for those who are being creative with their table numbers
Hi Ladies.
Just want to know, of those that named their tables at their wedding or who are going to. Did you feel the need to include a table number as well as not to confuse your guests, Or were your guests able to find the tables easily?
Also, did your hall have any problems with you doing this?
I really like the idea of naming your tables, I just do not want it to be confusing.
One last question, what size frames did everyone use, I was thinking about 4x6 or 5x7- too big????
Thanks.

Re: for those who are being creative with their table numbers
I am planning to use numbers as well as names in order to avoid any confusion.
I just spoke to my hall (John Anthony's) last week about whether or I could do this and they said no problem.

Thanks for the response. I am going to call my place as well to verify.
What size frames are you using?

I haven't gotten that far yet.
I may see what the hall usually provides and see if they will just let me use them.

Re: for those who are being creative with their table numbers
We named the tables of places in Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago, that's where hubby and I are from. We added numbers for the staff, whether its a name or a number, you guest does not know where the table is located, so don't let that deter you from doing it. The staff was at the door of the room assisting all guest to finding their tables.
Here is what ours looked like.

I am using the same hall as Shamma96 did and I don't know about you Shamma but my BM was hesitant at first. But I am going to add the table number for the staff and next to it the name of the location. Shamma-how were your placecards written out?

Re: for those who are being creative with their table numbers
My placecard were chocolate bars and they only had the name of the place no numbers included, here is a bad scan of them. My BM was hesitant but once I showed him what it was he was fine with it.

We are doing names only. The hall said it is so popular now that the staff has become acustomed to it and they have no problems. Ask your hall what they think.

Re: for those who are being creative with their table numbers
We only use the table names, not numbers. Our hall gave us a map of the reception room, and when I completed my seating chart and placecards, I wrote in the corrsponding table name next to the number that the hall normally assigns to that table.
We also did not use frames for our table cards. We had the pics laminated and mounted w/easels at Kinkos. Here's a photo of ours, and of Michele31's which were fancier, but inspired by ours:

I would like to do something creative with table numbers, but how do you all find the time to do all of this stuff? Your ideas are great!

Jen
I called the Coral House yesterday and spoke with Kristin. She said that it is totally ok to do the names only. Just provide them with a table plan that they can refer to and it should be fine.
She says it is so popular now that this type of request does not surprise them.

Re: for those who are being creative with their table numbers
I am using 5 x 7 pic frames and writing the number out in script. I just cant stand those metal table # holders that they use at catering halls. Thats about as creative as I get.

Shamma- I really liked your idea with the candy bars. Where did you have that done? and do you have a better pic so I can see how you did it? Hope you don't mind if I steal your idea.

Re: for those who are being creative with their table numbers
Here's a pick of my table signs....my hall was great to work with, and didn't require us to also number them or anything. I bought a bunch of mini easels from Micheal's and the cards just sat perfectly.
Re: for those who are being creative with their table numbers
we used names of different dances, no numbers. In 5x7 frames provided by the hall. We had a seating list - as guest entered the room they were directed dto their table.

Re: for those who are being creative with their table numbers
I just had a brain moment.... Since my whole theme is Cinderella.... I should name the tables by the characters in the movie.... holy cow - too cute...
one would be gus gus next would be jacques next would be prince charming of course cinderella evil stepmother
so on and so forth......
oooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
edited to say... oh my goodness..... just had another moment..... i could get pictures of each character, and put it on the table with their name!!!!!!!
