For those who are NOT getting their cakes from their hall
Where are you getting your cake and what are you paying? The reason I'm asking is I think I found my cake
I think I found my cake - they are an AMAZING french pastry store - not like a regular bakery - and the cakes are beautiful - we are thinking of a grand marnier cake - which they describe 'as a light airy sponge moistened with Grand marnier syrup, on each of the four layers you will find a think layer of orange marmalade and french butter cream'
I can't wait to do a tasting there - my BM and I went and checked out their cake book - and their pictures look amazing (their signature cake was on the cover of I think it was bride magazine about 3 or 4 years ago)
They are charging 4.25 per slice - I think that is a goo price for the quality but want to do some research thru you girls and make sure

I got my cake through my hall. It was included. I've never heard of a per slice charge.

Sorry kelly that was why I was asking for people who weren't getting them thru their hall b/c I know they wouldn't know b/c it comes in their package.
If you have to pay for a cake it is generally pre slice/per person.

I saw a few cakes in a magazine that were $8.50 a slice, so $4.50 is probably a good deal.

I think the cakes from the halls are part of your package. There is no place on my contract where it gives a price for the cake, but I know it is included.

I believe I paid $2.50 - $2.95 a head. this was at Alpine Bakery in Smithtown
Mine was alos included in the hall, but we opted not to get it through them so we got a credit of $1 per head

per slice is how most cakes are priced- unless your hall provides you with one. That is very normal. Cake prices can be as little as $2.00 and as high as over $20 per slice. It all depends on design, designer (for those big NYC shops), flavors/fillings, and even delivery costs can vary.

So it sounds like 4.25 is a good price for a fancy, intricate cake from a high quality place - thank you Michelle

Christine, we looked into getting additional cakes for our wedding, not the wedding cakes. However, the pricing was this: $50 for first 25-30 slice cake, and additional $25 for each next cake of same size...
Does that make sense? But it is not for a wedding cake, more for a regular cake.

I'm probably going to end up using the cake from the hall, but I've been looking elsewhere, just incase I decide I want to spend the extra money in the end. Every cake that I love in magazines has been btwn $7.50-$19.50 a slice. It sounds like you're getting a great deal.
