Okay, do you think 1GB of SDRAM with 2 DIMMs is sufficient or should I go with the 2GBs which will cost alot more? I will be working with alot of photos of high resolution and maybe some video editing in the future. I want to be able to have large programs like Photoshop open and still be able to open other progams at the same time. Help! The Apple guy said the 1GB should be sufficient, but I'm nervous, but at the same time I don't really want to spend an additional 400 bucks. Thanks for your help.

I would ask LBF404 specifically - her hubby is my Mac Guru.
I just bought an IMac G5, base model, and I LOVE it!!!!!!!!
Good luck!

1 is plenty!!!!
down the road, if you feel like you need more, you can buy it seperately and just pop it in...its so easy, I did it myself. from my experience, it'll be cheaper later on, IF you decide you need it.

DH knows all about Macs and does graphics/programming. If you are going to do video editing he thinks you will need a dual processor. Our G4 can be slow with the videos (but we're getting a G5 soon!!!!) You may get by with the 1GB for just photos but you may think of getting 2GB if you plan to do a lot of higer end image work. Macs really hold up well and hold their values, compared to PCs. No matter what you will get a good computer!
