Is your per room rate lower than if you randomly went online and booked a room for that night? Mine is more expensive and I am supposedly getting a discounted rate for blocking rooms!?!?! The sales manager will not call me back and I am FUMING!

Re: For those who blocked rooms ANYWHERE
yes, cheaper. our situation was a bit complicated because the hotel changed ownership since we blocked, but this is what happened:
blocked rooms at $139/night (and a free shuttle for every 15 rooms booked) and reg price was $159/night to my knowledge.
Then the hotel changed ownership (Wingate Inn --> La Quinta) and they upped their prices. Their blocked prices became $159/night with reg prices of $179-189/night, but they honored our old contract for the original price.
I checked online 2 months before the wedding and it had our dates listed as $199/night, but when I went to click on them they said 'no rooms available' (I guess they were all reserved for our block, or booked by other people already).
In short, you should be getting a discounted rate or some perk. That's weird that your price would be more expensive. take a screen shot or print the price you found online

Ours were cheaper by about $30 per room, if I remember correctly.

I don't think we got a cheaper rate...not only that, i recall when reserving a room for my cousin's wedding under their group name the cost was higher than just booking ourselves...whats the point of the group 'rate' except to jack the price up?

No, our group rate is about $80 less per night than the regular online rate.

Re: For those who blocked rooms ANYWHERE
Our rooms were $149 when we booked. Now the discounted rate would be $169 but if you called and didn't get the blocked room rate the price is $100 more.
