For those who blocked rooms at the Wyndham

For those who blocked rooms at the Wyndham

Anyone worried that they might not make their quota of 10 rooms? We blocked rooms for 2 nights, July 3rd and 4th and I don't think that we'll meet our quoto now and we'll have to pay for all of the rooms that aren't used under 20! (10 per night). My guests are saying it's too expensive, but they are not from NY, so they don't realize that the other hotels are more expensive than the Wyndham. I'm sure they are going to stay elsewhere and settle for a not so nice place and then FI and I will be out thousands of dollars!

At my hotel (The Holiday Inn) my guests have until one month before the weeding to book, after that they stop hold the rooms and I don't have to pay for anything. See if your hotel has the same type of arrangement.

Good luck!

i'm having the same issues. i'm going to be dangerously close to the 10 room limit (and that assumes some local people will stay in the hotel - like my FMIL - she wants to drink and not have to worry). that's one of the reasons why i haven't booked the block of rooms yet. i am double and triple checking my list to ensure that we meet the 10 room minimum. i was debating let guests get their own room so they have the freedom to choose where to go and with the internet sites, there are always good deals. what i can't afford is paying for unnecessary rooms!!!

Karen! We blocked the Wyndham too, for some of the same nights! I won't be there then, but Matt and his whole family, and most of the bridal party will be there on July 4 too!

As for your question, I guess I'm confused because you shouldn't have had to guarantee a block. If you don't make your quota they just release the rooms. It's only if you go over a certain minimum # that they start charging you. Unless you have worked out a different arrangement with them? FM me and let me know the specifics of the contract re rate, guarantees, etc, and maybe I can help.

As an aside, we are ALSO using the Holiday Inn Ronkonkoma for the guests who want to pay a little less than Wyndham...not that it's THAT much less, but it's certainly interesting how a few dollars can push people over the edge...!

Actually - I am also using the Wyndham, and it is a guarantee. They have the guarantee because they give you a lower rate and they don't release the rooms. We also have a block at the Marriott. We didn't have to guarantee there because they don't give a group rate and they release any unused rooms 4 weeks prior.
