For those who had or will have a string quartet in the church ceremony

Are you also having the vocalist sing? I'm having a hard time grasping how the vocalist would sound with the string quartet I just keep hearing organ music in my head. I really just want the string quartet and no vocalist unless you guys have had the vocalist sing with the string quartet and it's fine.....anyone experience this I'm really confused as to what to do. I feel like how will they coordinate beforehand to know how each would perform the songs?

we had JUST the string quartet and it was beautiful. the part of the ceremony where the vocalist would do the responsorial psalm was done by the priest.

Thank you, you just made me feel better. I asked if we could have the responsorial psalm read by a family member and the priest said yes. It's really just the responses like Amen and other prayers that he mentioned are usually sung. I'd rather them just be spoken but didn't want to cause any conflict. Did you have the prayers and responses all spoken and it was fine?

I play in a string quartet at weddings. We have sometimes played with a vocalist, and organ but usually for one or at most 2 songs. The processional and recessional we do alone.

I am doing this on Friday, I kind of got pushed into having the vocalist for a couple of songs during the ceremony along with the string quartet. If you are free you could come by and see it for yourself, Holy Name of Mary Church in Valley Stream at 4 pm!
