Me and DH have two christenings coming up this month and was just wondering what gifts you received (or gave) when you son/daughter was christened. I have NO IDEA what to give these days.

We received mostly cash...that is usually what we give as well (unless you are a Godparent).

MY DH family is from the midwest where things are a lot different. So we received like $25 and an outfit from his parents for Jack's Christening. My parents started a college fund for him and my aunt bought him shares of Disney stock! Other family members gave him $100 and $200 savings bonds.
So I think it depends on whether it is a family member or not. Maybe $50 is about right?

I was thinking maybe a $50 gift but DH thought $100. Both of these christenings our close friends...so i am not sure.

We usually buy Bonds for the baby when we go to a Christening. This way we know that the baby will eventually get the money since the bond is in their name.

Bonds are usual for my family, plus grandparents gave her jewerly. My parents gave her diamond earrings. I rec'd anywhere from $50-$200 bonds.I did get a few checks, which we put into her colleg fund.

I always give bonds or money to small kids for 1st birthdays , 1st x-mas's etc.(God knows they dont need more toys) and Christenings.

I just recently went to my 2nd cousins baby's christening....We gave $75. I thought $50 was too little and $100 was too much.

We got mostly bonds or cash. The average gift from a single person was $50, a couple was $75-100.

I would say go with an 100 dollar bond for friends.
I loved having bonds for our (dh and mine) Christenings and other sacraments because we were able to use them for closing on our first home. We hope our baby gets bonds as well so that he will have it for something that he will need as an adult.
