When I went in 1999, I stayed at the Outrigger Reef on the Beach in Waikiki. It's a great property, right on the beach and everyone there is so friendly. Also check out the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Get an Entertainment book for great savings.

I went twice and stayed in the aston waikiki beach tower, it was really nice but they have a kitchen dining room and two bedrooms an didn't want that for our honeymoon so we are staying tat the Hilton Hawaiian village , I have heard great things about it.

We just got back. We went to Honolulu for 1 night and stayed at the Sheraton Wakiki and it was ok. It's a decent hotel right on the beach. After walking around the main area and seeing some other hotels, I'd recommend the Hyatt, the Sheraton Moana Surfrider or the Outrigger Reef. We only saw them from the outside but they seemed much nicer than our hotel. The Sheraton Moana Surfrider was very cute- they have a big front poarch with rocking chairs. we went into the lobby and it looked so nice! I don't know what the rooms are like but I'd check it out. Have fun!

go with outrigger and make sure it is directly on the beach waikiki is a very small beach over rated and too many foreign tourists and honeymooners...rent a car (car rentals give discount coupons to everything from shopping to eating and tours) HNL is very good to drive around and see the entire island...other local beaches are better and free as they all area but the scenery is breathtaking...be sure and visit the dole plantation..you will be in pineapple heaven...if you can switch to maui more remote and romantic and the scenery is heavenly as well...you can rent a villa or bungalow you'll have a better time good luck

We stayed at the Halekulani and we loved it! We went to Maui afterwards and DH wanted to go back to Oahu just to stay at the Halekulani again.
