Are you having them there for the entire ceremony and reception I hired my DOC for 7 hrs. My ceremony is at 2:30 pm and the reception starts at 7:30 pm. So that means that she will leave at 9:30. I am not sure if I should pay her extra to stay later? Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!!!

Re: For those who have hired a DOC....
hmmmm, we didn't hire our DOC by the hour - she's w/ us all day. I would say have her at the ceremony though. By the time the reception is in full swing you probably won't need her for much.

well the end is hectic too.. like paying all the vendors, collecting things from the hall, making people take centerpieces etc

Re: For those who have hired a DOC....
Mine wasn't by the hour. She was with me from the moment we signed her until well...even now! If there is anything I need I still call her. She's GREAT!
ETA: You need them with you ALL day! Mine was there early to set up ceremony, etc. Keep DH & I apart so we could take pics before ceremony without seeing each other....ummm...she really did everything. Then kept things running smoothly during ceremony, during entire reception...then at the end packing everything up, etc. She and her asst. were there at the RD too.

mine is by the hour also. I have her until 8 that night. My wedding is at 3 but she will be at my house from 12 .. I was thinking of hiring her extra so that she can deal with the tipping, etc... I have to see .... I can always let her know that day she said also.

She can always do the tipping ahead of time right?

Why would you do that? I know there were a LOT of changes in our tips by the end of the night...

We really did though. I remember reading a tip on here about not sealing the tip envelopes because you'll do a lot of money shifting in those envelopes. You could always trust a family member to hold on the tip envelopes for you... Don't worry...it'll work out.

You could always call your DOC and ask what they do towards the end of the night. You can't be the only bride in this type of scenario.
