For those who have or are in the process of buying a house
FH and I are planning to buy a house by the time our wedding comes around. We both live with our parents and have no where to stay after we are married (and we don't want to put our savings into an apartment). We have been trying to actively look and go to real estate agents, however we have not had much luck. We HATED the first one guy we went to bc he was soooo arrogant. Now we went to this other woman today who was recommended to us by a coworker, but the woman was trying to make us sign a contract that we can use her and ONLY her (if we used someone else we would be breaking the contract). Is this normal??? Did anyone else have to sign a contract that limited you to using only one real estate agent?? I have always been told to go to a couple real estate agents and not to settle down with one until one finds you the house you want however the woman told us that that is not true (of course). Any help??? TIA

Re: For those who have or are in the process of buying a house
I bought my house 14 years ago (holy cow) and we did sign some sort of contract with the RE. But she kept showing us houses in a town we did specifically said we didn't want, so we sent a letter 'releasing' her from our services. We found a new one and bought through them. I do think some may use a contract because that is how they make $$. Again, 14 years ago.

When FH & I 1st started looking last year the realtor we were using at the time made us sign a contract that was for 6 mths. The realtor we are with right now didn't make us sign anything. the only thing she had us sign was a paper saying that she was showing us some properties...nothing legally binding us to only her. ---She is the best sooo far!!!!!!!!!!!
