We have verizon. I just had a huge fight with them last weekend though b/c from the storm we had last thurs night, our phone was knocked out and when I called to report it, they told me it would be 2-3 weeks until they could come out and fix it! I thought that was a little long so I called them back and told them that I needed a new phone line installed (just to see what they would say to a potential 'new' customer) and they told me that they could be over on sat. to install it and get me service! ***? So I called and spoke to a supervisor and explained this and (to spare you the long drawn out version) I had my phone back in service that night (but it did take a lot of yelling and supervisors to get this done!)

I am not sure about other carriers. As bad as verizon is, I am afraid to swtich fearing a different company could be worse. Plus verizon owns all the lines and then this company has to go through verizon in some cases to get service orders complete.

My parents have MCI, and they pay one price for all local, and long distance calls, caller ID and voicemail.

We use the neighborhood, which I think is MCI. It is supposed to be everything for one price. Don't use them- it is way more expensive than we were paying before. I am going to switch back to att.

I have the Verizon 'freedom' package. Its $59 a month for unlimited local and long distance with caller ID, home VM, 3 way calling and call forwarding. So far Im happy

I have MCI, had the plan where we got local and long distance for one price, but now I am getting a seperate bill from AT&T??? I am going to cancel long distance, since both FH and I get free nationwide calling on our cell phones. Will keep local, probably w. Verizon.

verizon....I have never had a problem with them. I have the same plan as kptoys...saves me a lot when i call my FH every night LD!

When we bought our house we researched calling plans extensively and found Optimum to be the best (for us). They have different packages to choose from - our current package includes :
100 phone calls a month (unlimited talk time) and a 3 feature package - our 3 are call waiting, caller ID, and 3-way calling.
there are other features to choose from, for example, voice mail, call forwarding, I forget what else. Long distance is $0.10 a minute
This package is $32.48 a month (with taxes) you can change the package at any time (change features or number of calls). Let me know if you need more info or any questions.
(Also we had a problem with the phone line - it was our fault - they were very accommodating with servicing it quickly and even on a weekend)
