For those who took their veil off for the reception....

For those who took their veil off for the reception....

Did you use a regular comb for your veil? I was told you could use a metal T to make it easy to take the veil off for the reception. Did anyone do this? Did the veil stay in ok up until the reception?

Thanks!

i used a comb & it was fine....but i will say - i wish i would've kept it on! my mom kept trying to tell me too, but i was adament about taking it off after dinner...now i see photos & WISH i would've had it on the whole time... just food for thought!

my veil was on a metal comb...my hair dresser was going to put bobby pins in on the sides that could just be taken out to take the veil out (maybe that's what they were talking about? like bobby pins coming in horizontally from the side, one on each side?) but she didn't b/c it seemed to be in there pretty good. It stayed in fine until it got windy when we were taking pictures and it flew out....my bridal attendant put it back in backwards so it kept coming out. I took it out during the CH when I bustled

i had the comb - i heard the metal one is better to use if you have your hair in an updo - i had my hair down so i had the comb.

I want to do my hair half up and I'm afraid if I keep the veil on you won't see my hair and if I take it off I won't look 'bridal' . haha. I guess it depends on how it looks and if its annoying me. I dont think I'll do the T then just in case I want to keep it in.

My veil was attached to my comb (had pearls and crystals on it, so I didn't want to not have that on too) with velcro, so when it was time for it to come off, my SIL just carefully peeled it off and not a hair was moved out of place.

my veil had hooks to put through the comb so it was attached that way, i think some bobby pins were used too...my bridal attendant took off my veil and he did it quickly and didnt mess up my hair at all

but i had to add that reading this totally reminded me of the infamous 'veil on a stick' thread from many moons ago

my friend took hers off and it did take away from the 'bridal' look, IMO. kinda just looked like a girl in a white dress and not a bride anymore. maybe a short fingertip veil wont be so annoying?

i had my hair half up half down and i took my veil off during the reception. mine was a comb and there were no problems taking it out. i did keep it on through our first dance and the toasts so all those pics still have my veil. maybe that's a good compromise?

I had my veil on for part of the reception then my hairdresser (who was a guest at our wedding- she has known our family for over 20 years) took it out for me without a problem
