We're doing this too.
Our place is giving us the corks so we'll have to cut them the way we want for the place cards ourselves. I like the traditional horizontal way, but I'm afraid they might roll over in the wind or a breeze as people walk by.. If not maybe the 2 corks together, but I like the way the horizontal ones look best.

I just ordered from here after our DIY attempt went terribly wrong. I just lost patience for re cutting them b/c they kept falling over. These come quickly and are beautiful and well worth the money.

We did this- my FIL shaved one of the round sides down and made the horizontal slit in the side of the cork. It looked great, EVERYONE loved them and it didn't cost us a thing- we collected the corks from family/friends and wineries. And my FIL was sooo happy to have something he could do to help out lol
He also made us a wine barrel for our cardbox- I will have better pix once I get my proofs

How did you make the wine barrel for the cardbox? I have been trying or at least trying to figure it out. I am also getting married at Giorgio's, Rob gave me a card for the wine guy or something like that, but i thought I might be able to make it one of the DIY

We are doing to a wine theme since we are getting married at the vineyards. We have only been engaged since July and we already have bags and bags of corks. I love the barrel idea for the card holder!

I THINK maybe just a saying ...like the 'Live Laugh Love' ...just b/c im not sure people want our names on them if they want to use them at home for their personal pics. I always think of stuff like that What were you thinking?

I think for cost, I'm just going to the regular corks, but the customized ones are cute!
