FOR WOMEN ONLY!!! NOT TO OFFEND!!

DEAR BRIDES, I AM ANONYMOUS B/C OF THE TOPIC, AND EVERYONE CAN POST ANONYMOUSLY IF THEY CHOOSE TO. AS A MATTER OF FACT, I WOULD PREFER IT. ANYWAY, WHAT ARE BRIDES DOING ABOUT THEIR MENSTRUAL CYCLE DURING THE WEDDING AND OR HONEYMOON? DOES ANYONE HAVE THIS POSSIBLE PROBLEM? I KNOW THAT IF YOU'RE ON THE PILL YOU CAN MOVE IT AROUND, BUT IS ANYONE PLANNING ON DOING THAT? I THINK I'M MORE WORRIED ABOUT THE BLOATING AND BEING UNCOMFORTABLE. AS IT STANDS, MINE WILL ARRIVE THE WEEK OF MY WEDDING. ANYONE ELSE IN THE SAME SITUATION, OR HAS SUGGESTIONS? ANY NURSES OUT THERE? HAVING A BOARD WITH PREDOMINANTLY WOMEN IS WONDERFUL, AND SINCE CAN HAPPEN TO ALMOST ANY BRIDE, I THOUGHT I'D ASK! THANKS! P.S. I AM PUTTING A CALL INTO MY OB-GYN TOO, SO IF I GET ANY INFO I'LL SHARE. I HOPE I HAVEN'T OFFENDED ANYONE WITH THIS ISSUE!

FOR WOMEN ONLY!!! NOT TO OFFEND!!

Hi, my Fiance and I recently set a date for our wedding for August 16, 2002. I did nothing but worry about getting my period during my wedding. I tried and tried to pick a date so I know I wouldn't get it. Our date being so far in advance, it's almost impossible. I'm still worried about it, but there's nothing I can do. :( Mine comes a couple of days early, a couple of days later, whenever it feels like it. So, to pick a date a 1 1/2 early I could never guess when. So basically I'm chancing it. Everyone told me, not to try to figure it unless yours comes exactly the same day every month, because a lot of brides get it anyway because of stress? I don't know! I'm just praying. You could go on the pill so you can regulate it, but I don't want to do that. So, if you come up with any suggestions let me know! Thanks! Good Luck!!!

FOR WOMEN ONLY!!! NOT TO OFFEND!!

My wedding is next February. I figured out that I would get my period during my honeymoon. I am planning on speaking to my doctor about taking the pill consecutively for two months. I already figured out that by do this I would get it the week prior to my wedding. I plan on doing it soon so by the time my wedding is here there shouldn't be any problems. You should speak to your doctor.

A friend of mine was able to put it off her usual date by a week using the pill. Definitely speak to your gyno, but I think she basically went on the pill, then went off causing her period to come then went back on. She said she was a hormonal wreck but probably would have been anyway!

FOR WOMEN ONLY!!! NOT TO OFFEND!!

I also just started the pill last month. I told my doctor that I am expecting my period on the week of my wedding and she said I could just take my pill straight through so I would skip my cycle. Can you believe as luck would have it we are all expecting the week of the wedding or honeymoon!!! Men are so lucky!! LOL

FOR WOMEN ONLY!!! NOT TO OFFEND!!

I went on vacation last year the week of my period. I am on the pill so I just skipped my period until the next month. It worked great for that week, but during the next fews weeks I had some 'spotting'. It was a little annoying, but it is worth not having your period for your wedding and honeymoon. I would defintly talk to your doctor.

I've decided not to worry about it. The pill is not an option for me. I thought it was going to work out OK but my recent surgery threw my cycle off a bit, so it may come just before the wedding. I'm hoping it will be a bit earlier, but I'll just deal with whatever is.

I am on the pill consecutively since January and will continue until immediately after my wedding in May. I did that to avoid the 'spotting' issue that can occur when you mess around with the pill schedule...I feel great and very relieved. The Dr. was the one who recommended I start going consecutive a few months before to avoid any minor effects like the spotting...

I cannot take the pill either, but I have heard there are side effects like weight gain (depending on the brand) which may be a major disadvantage especially when it comes to alterations. Mine should come a week to 10 days prior so as long as my stress levels don`t change too much (LOL) I am safe.

FOR WOMEN ONLY!!! NOT TO OFFEND!!

It is very funny that you posted this issue because it is actually very important. I got engaged in Dec 99 and Married in Feb 2001. Since I am on the pill, I am like clockwork, so I actually counted the weeks before picking my wedding date. I would suggest that you speak to your doctor to get a medication like Provera, which will bring on your period. Plan to take it so you get your period the week before. I was lucky , I got mine the week before my wedding, so I had no problems. Just because you take the pill, does not necessarily mean that you will skip your period, it may be very light, but you will still spot. For those who are worried about going on the pill, I have been on it for ten years, and have never had problem. Consult your doctor for the option that is best for you.

FOR WOMEN ONLY!!! NOT TO OFFEND!!

Just as a follow up - this is my third cycle of continuous pill taking and I have not spotted since the first month (this is actually a blessing! LOL). I have been on the pill for about 6 years and have not had problems - best advice is to definitely speak to your doctor..they will know best.

FOR WOMEN ONLY!!! NOT TO OFFEND!!

I started counting weeks about 2 months ago. I also take the pill and I am actually taking 1 pill less per month for the next 6 months. That will move it to about 1 1/2 weeks before my wedding. I have been taking the pill for the last 4 years and it has been a godsend to me. I use it because I began to have very heavy periods and it worked to control that.

Ladies, be careful

i was on the pill for 7years. I had no problems until 3 months before my wedding. I started to spot!!, and had nothing but problems from then on!! yes, i bled on my wedding day, and i wasnt supposed to get my period until the following week. luckily i doubled up on pills, and it worked for my honeymoon, but i switched birth control pills 3 times in 1 year, and i 'm no longer on the pill because of it. Who would have thought i would have these problems right before my wedding!!. Everything still wen't smoothly, even after my wedding reception!

Ladies, be careful

I think it is important to keep in mind that the pill does have side effects, both long and short term and to be aware of those effects before deciding to take it. Weigh the pros and cons- the Dr. doesnt always know what is best for you and sometimes let their personal opinions affect their advisement. This is true for any drug or medication.
