For your reading pleasure...
From my aunt (my mom's cousin)
Your mom and i were close when we were growing up. i had allot of friends. i always made sure my date had a friend for her.
when Dennis and i got serious and talked about marriage i asked her what she thought.
i said i can;t live without him.when ever i am not with him i miss him so much i can;t stand it.
she said , i have never met two people better matched for each other. she said if i looked for 100 yrs i wouldn;t find anyone better suited for me.
i knew she was right. my uncle mike begged us to wait the two yrs until we were 21 and have a wedding. he was sure it wouldn;t last, we had nothing in common. we were different religions, he parents didn;t like me because i was an Italian catholic, my family wasn;t crazy for him cause he wasn;t.
out side of HS he had no trade or formal education, he was a shoe salesmen in queens, at bakers shoes(are they still there) i didn;t care, i knew i couldnt live without him.
just put as much time and energy into your love affair as you put into the wedding. and answer this question , if something happened and we couldn;t have a wedding would we marry anyway,
the answer should be yes,
the wedding shouldn;t be the most important part,,
i have many many many friends that had big pricey wonderful weddings and they are divorced now. my cousin margaret for one, is divorced from her #4, my friend janice is on her #3. i could go on and on but i want you to know that steve and you are who and what is important , not trying to make other people happy. when the party is over and every has left you will be alone with each other.
dennis and i had a big beautiful house that was filled with love and laughs and fights and mad and sad and hugs and kisses. he was strong and protective and smart. he was warm and loving and just dennis. and yes a pain in the butt too some times. the good times far out weighted the bad.
within a few yrs everything changed and we had nothing but each other and he was far from the dennis i knew. he got sick,, we sold the house jim got married and left (what nerve), my mom died we moved to AZ(how stupid). nothing is the same. we still are in love , we still laugh and hug and kiss and get mad,(go to your room you big jerk)lol, he is still warm and loving and my dear dear dennis. i wouldn;t have missed it for the world. we really have had a full rich wonderful life in spite of all the negative stuff, there was more good stuff and my good memories for exceed my bad. maybe i am jsut an optimistic person and try to find the good in situations.
this is my story and i am sticky to it.
thanks for letting me share.ama
