For your single BM

For your single BM

I found this and thought it was cute. I plan on taking the extra material from my dress and attaching the pins to it. I'll have my calligrapher make up cards with this tradition on it for my 4 singles BMs.

Bridal Pins
If a friend is about to get married, and you are still looking for love, ask her to give you two of the pins from the fitting of her dress.
'Wish upon a pin for joy; soon you'll meet your special boy!' Hold the pins close to your heart and wish very hard for a love of your own. Tuck one of the pins into your bodice or jacket, and cast the other into a fire saying 'may my heart soon be aflame with love'. Keep the pin your wearing, and transfer it from outfit to outfit until the wedding takes place. Most important, wear it the day itself. Kiss the bride who gave it to you three times for good luck after the ceremony, and you should be lucky enough to meet someone special before the moon has set that night.
I'm going to give this to them at the rehearsal dinner.
Continued success to all...

Re: For your single BM

Thank you! I thought it was something different. I also got each of them pearl earings and a silver frame with a friends poem on it. I'm giving my MOH a Tiffany heart tag bracelet w/ her new initials on it (she is getting married in November). I found a great web site w/ beautiful lace hankies, I'm getting my mom one and it comes boxed w/ a beautiful poem.

a word of caution

Heather - I think the idea is beautiful but I know my single BM's wouldn't have appreciated it.

Your friends may really appreciate it (you know your friends), but looking at it from a different perspective...are they the kind of girls that rush out to catch the bouquet or the kind that dread being singled out as 'single'.

It could be perceived as being condesending - 'I'm getting married - maybe you will too someday... - good luck'

Or they could resent the idea that they should find a man to be happy. Maybe my friends (especially my single older sister) are too sensitive but they would have been offended.

Just wanted to give you a different perspective. I hope your girls will appreciate the thoughtfulness.

Re: a word of caution

They will all know that it is done with care, and not take offense. They are not overly sensitive about being single, and would never look too deep into the message. Thank you for your advice.
