the priest from the local church (not the one we're using for the ceremony) just called FH and wants to know who is the officiant for the ceremony, we told him we had 2 and he said there can only be one (like the highlander). Do you know what he is talking about and if you do who was your 'officiant'? I would assume that the papers that need to be filled out for the catholic church would be done by the priest and the papers that need to be filled out for the jewish portion of the ceremony would be done by the rabbi. I'm confused

Re: girls who used a priest and rabbi - I need help
People have had ceremonies with both officiants before, so I think you really need to talk to your priest from the church (not the one for the ceremony) about this. Your church may not recognize interdenominational marriages.

Well FH is there now but we spoke to him before we booked the priest and rabbi and he set us up with interfaith precana and flat out told us it was fine that we were using a priest and a rabbi. We were very open and honest with him and he had no issues with anything we had told him, I assume this means they do recognize interfaith marriages. He wasn't concerned about two officiants, he was concerned about which one was 'the officiant'. This is where I'm confused, and so is he. I believe this was for paperwork purposes

forget it, we got our answer. 'The officiant' is the one who signs the marriage license and if it is the priest that will be signing the license, there is a form that needs to be filled out for the church.
