We just started our registry yesterday and it's already an issue!!! We really liked a kinda pricey casual china set, but I'm hesitant to register for that as well as formal china that already costs close to 100 per place setting. Can you share what you registered for if you registered for both? The formal china and price and casual china and price? And if possible - where you registered?
Thanks!

Re: Formal China and Casual China prices
HEY......I knew I did not want China. I decided to register for nice plain everyday plates and during the holidays I would just mix in holiday bowls and accessories. The set we registered for is considered Casual China. It is by Mikasa. I definitely wanted microwave and dishwasher safe! I registered for them at Macy's. The pattern I actually picked happens to always be on sale. Here is a picture. It is called Mikasa Italian Countryside.
My casual china was $40 per place setting (when my aunt bought it all for me, it was on sale for $28.99 and come with the free matching goblets)
My formal china was $89 per place setting. But, one day, we found that Macy's accidentally put it on clearance for 50% off, so our mothers bought it all for as a XMAS gift a few years ago.

Re: Formal China and Casual China prices
We registered for Vera Wang Pink Duchesse which is $109 a place setting--that seemed to be a pretty popular price per setting at Fortunoff. If it makes you feel better, FFIL told me that one of his friends registered for $400 per place setting (a 5 piece place setting!!) for his second wedding.
Our casual china is from the Calvin Klein Khaki Collection in Raisin, but it doesn't come in place settings (is that called 'open stock'?). If you add it up the individual pieces though, it's about $45 for a 4 piece place setting. Hope this helps!
Some how my Casual is more expensive then my Fine too!
All from Macys
First is my Fine China - Noritake Sweet Leilani - $39.99 for 5 pc. pl. set
Second is my Casual China - $28.80 a plate
i have sweet leilani im so excited to see someone that has the same pattern thats very cool. if you need to get completer pieces go to the noritake outlet for them there cheaper.

We just registered for casual china from Crate & Barrel- we selected 2 of a set of 4 placesettings for a total of 8.. So one set of 4 placesettings is like $140.. so like $30 bucks.

Re: Formal China and Casual China prices
my formal china is Lenox Opal Innocence $100 a setting (1st one)
my casual china is kate spade ($100 a setting but we only want the big plates....we mixed and matched) the plates are $25 each
we love them and already got most of it REMEMBER!!! you know your people best.... you should register for what YOU want... but if you don't get it then you can buy it afterwards
I also registered for Italian Countryside by Mikasa because it can be either casual or formal. We both knew that it would be a waste to buy formal China because we would never use it. If we want it later on we'll buy it ourselves or the themed holiday China if we know we will be hosting a certain holiday.
