If you had an extra room, would you make it a formal living room or dining room?
As you probably know, we're looking for a house and sometimes there aren't enough rooms for both.
Personally, I think I'd prefer the dining room.

Definitely a dining room. I would want to be able to entertain and without one you couldn't have a sit down dinner whereas you would already have at least one living room.

Dining room as long as you have good sized Den or basement to hang out in.
