formal styles that won't break the bank

i have to attend a wedding next month and i want to get my hair done formally (maybe something like half up w/ curls) since i will maybe be in some pics (it is FH's bro who is getting married) BUT the salon i usually go to charges $85 and up for this... does anyone have any recommendations where i can get a formal style done that would cost less? thanks!

I can't help you with a salon, but what about also making that a trial day for yourself? This way you won't have to pay for that in the future?

Roosevelt Field mall, there's cactus academy (paul mitchell)... my MOH's sister goes there, she actually did my hair for my engagement party (see pics in album). her name is Kaitlyn. go on a saturday morning (well call first) they do EVERYTHING at a discount as they are students, but there is ALWAYS a licensed professional on hand to help whenever needed.
I trust katie! I mean I let her do my hair, with extension, for my engagement party. Her aunt used to own her own salon.. and was there that day to help, but katie did the bulk of it.. just ran out of time so her aunt curled one side while she curled the other...

here's the school info:

my mother is a hairdresser too... but isn't that great with up-dos.

Do you have any friends that can do it for you?

I went to Tapestry Salon in Centereach for my wedding day hair and it was only $65. They're on Middle Country Road.
