I went to a wedding a East Wind in November. No one sat us, we found our place cards and then found our table.

If your at the Estate you don't need placecards. The wait staff is suppposed to seat you. They have a list of people and the tables of where they are sitting.
If you are in the Inn then you need placecards.
I went to two weddings at the Estate and I was seated or at least told the table number.
Don't worry you'll be fine.

I'm getting married there in Nov. You have a choice at the Estate. You can have every guest escorted to their seats and not use place cards. OR.... (especially if you have a large wedding) .... you can go right ahead and use your place cards. So, you're fine. No worries!

My fiance works there and he said that they use place cards all the time, did you speak to someone who was knowledgeable?

I'm getting married in the Estate in september. They told me that all the guests would be on lists and they would all be escortd to the seats and no place cards were neccesary.

It depeds on how big you guest list is. If it is 175 or over, the Estate suggests you used place cards. If it is under that amount you don't need them.
