is it possible that Sophie likes one formula over the other? We are still going back and forth trying things to make sure this rash on her face (which she still has by the way) isn't some type of formula allergy. She ends up taking around 6 oz of formula a day in supplements, so it's possible she is reacting to it.
So we are trying to switch from the soy back to the regular. (the rash started when she started on soy). But when we give her regular she pushes it away. Now sometimes, she pushes soy away when she's not hungry also. Any time she pushes away we immediately take the supplement away knowing she got enough from nursing and is just cranky. I can't figure out now if it's the taste of one over the other...is it possible that she has a preference?
On the same note - do you prefer Similac over Enfamil?

Re: formula preference question
Jenny ... my gf had this trouble when she was weaning her 6 month old from bmilk. (without the allergy situation, though)
There is definitely a considerable difference in taste between formula & bmilk. She found that Goodstart was the only formula he would take. Also, soy products are very allergenic. If she's having a reaction, maybe its the soy.
How is the rash doing? Is it improving any?

Re: formula preference question
it's off and on, and it's so hard to figure out what it is! You'd think this would be easy as all she does is eat and sleep....but then you are thinking, maybe it's my detergent, maybe it's the dog, maybe it's the bath, maybe it's the formula, maybe I am eating something, it's endless!!!
I am going to try to feed her only the regular today and see what she does. I guess I'll ask the doctor on Tuesday at our first vaccination appointment...

Re: formula preference question
Nicolas has only used Enfamil. It's what was given to him in the hospital, and we continued it, so I can't say if we have a preference because we haven't tried anything else.

Definately discuss this with your pediatrician. I was told that you can't keep changing the formulas because they bellies are very sensitive.

Oh he already said it's ok. We give it like a week on the soy and then try the regular for a bottle here and there. I haven't switched brands though - he said to hold off on that.

Re: formula preference question
BM and formula are not the same so she is telling you that she prefer the bm.

Re: formula preference question
Jenny, just a question for ya... do you give her the formula at a certain time each day? If I have to supplement while I BF I dont want to confuse the baby or make him/her want the formula more... Thats what happened with JA and he loved the easy flow of the bottle with formula and it was all Enfamil from there... I tried a few different ones with him, he never showed dislike of any of them but Enfamil was 'the one'

Re: formula preference question
I don't really know if there is a preference per se...We have always used the Similac Isomil. But I do notice a preference for the ready to feed which he is more used to than the powder that I use sometimes when we go out.

I don't have specific times. I really try to make the supplement come from my husband, but Sophia is finicky - some days she wants it some days she doesn't need it at all. She still prefers the breast 100%. We made sure no matter what, if she was acting hungry ,she got the breast first...even if I knew it was empty for even 2 minutes, and then gave the bottle. We never give her the bottle immediately for a feeding.
