I just came back from Fortunoff to pick up my FH wedding band and the lady at the counter said that they will probably close by the end of next week. This is so sad....

this is the 3rd person today to say this, i dont think its a coincidence that 3 ppl were all said the same thing.
I agree, i went on their site too and doesnt say anything, its horrible. At least give ppl a heads up and let them know.
I wouldnt take the chance, if they are going through this they wont have most stuff in stock anyways. Last year none of my stuff were in stock from my registry so it was pointless since ppl couldnt buy anything for me from there. THey did get bought out that time but now if it doesnt happen it will either close or they will go through same thing as last year and you might have the same exact problems with half the stuff not being in stock or on back order

Re: FORTUNOFF...
I just went there yesterday with FH and we used all of our giftcards.
So weird, I asked them what the deal is and the lady in the Bridal Registry said Lord and Taylor owns them and is trying to sell them, but she didn't mention anything about them closing up that quick. I guess some employees know the deal better than others.
Wow....good thing we used almost all of our giftcards....if only FH could find the $100 he misplaced yesterday!

How could they not give us notice?? At least to let us purchase some of the items on our registry. I checked and my everyday glasses are not at BBB or Macy's. If they are really closing this soon, I'll buy them so I will have a complete set (I received some as an engagement gift.

Re: FORTUNOFF...
I went there tonight too. The lady at the Registry desk seemed very knowledgeable and she told me straight out to move anything that I could get at another store to a new register and have a plan B.
However she also said to keep my registry open with anything that isn't available at other stores, because there is a slight chance they will not close. She said they are waiting for a buyer, and that they will have a definite answer by the end of the month, but until then anything is possible. They could get a buyer that will immediately liquidate them or they could get a buyer that would keep them open. If there is no buyer by March they will close.
I have to say I felt so bad for her. She looked really frustrated and tired and the poor woman sounded like a broken record as bride after bride came in and/or called. Plus it was obvious she was concerned about her own job. I felt so bad.
She said they won't just close, there would be close out sales, which there aren't as of now. So I don't think the closing in a week thing is accurate.

Every saleslady seems to be giving a different answer....so you don't know what to believe. The lady at the jewelry counter seemed pretty knowledgeable, too. She said that there might be some sales, but most of their products will be sent to Lord and Taylor. She said the worst part is...the company didn't even tell them ahead of time...they had to read it in the newspaper first and THEN the company told them once it leaked out.

but fortunoff is more of a home than jewelry store so theres not much they could send to lord and taylor, I don't think were going to wake up tomorrow and find the doors closed, but something has to give with the information and misinformation, as a courtesy to all of us, they should really just send out a letter or an email or something

Re: FORTUNOFF...
Yeah they would have a liquidation sale. There is no way L&T could accommodate merchnadise from Fortunoffs.
But Forbes reported today that liquidation is very likely. However it is possible they would not have a liquidation sale in the jewelry dept, because there was talk of moving the whole jewelry dept. to L&T permanently. Technically its a separate division. So maybe that is why we are all getting conflicting information.

Re: FORTUNOFF...
Well, I am hoping for the ladies who registered there that Fortunoff's merchandise does get sent to L&T. Then, at least you can complete your registries.
