So for those of you who haven’t heard, Fortunoff just filed for bankruptcy (again) today. They are trying to buy some more time to find a buyer. I know someone who works there and she thinks that if anything, the store will not close until the Fall.
Anyway, my question is…should I move things off of my Fortunoff registry that I need multiples of? Like my crystal stemware? I’m afraid that I’ll only get like 5 out of the 12 that I registered for. And then I’ll be stuck without a full set! I’m thinking of maybe just adding a Bloomingdale’s registry…But then I’ll be registered at 4 places, which is kinda crazy, too. Help!

Re: Fortunoff and Registry Advice
Honestly If I were you I would move everything from Fortunoff to either Macys, Bloomies, BBB etc. this way you can collect points and if you get gift cards you can use them, if you have to return something you can.
I wouldn't take the chance with Fortunoff but that's JMO.
Good Luck
ETA: you can get rid of the Fortunoff one and not have so many registries...does that make sense?

Yeah I was thinking of that...the only bad thing is I feel guilty! I don't want to contribute to the downturn of Fortunoffs!
Did they entire get rid of the 'bonus' offer with the registry? Meaning, I won't get $$ back for purchases made off my registry?

You definitely have time. I have a registry there and I am kinda just waiting it out since my shower is not coming up any time soon. If it gets closer to my shower and they have not resolved anything, then I will move it.

I'm not sure, you should call and ask them but from what I heard they are no longer accepting the Dream Card so it doesn't look good. Give them a call.

Honestly, I would move my registry. It is very hard to come out of bankruptcy and even harder to come out of it a 2nd time. In this economy it is very doubtful they will find a buyer other than to liquidate the store.

Re: Fortunoff and Registry Advice
I was talking to my parents about this, I'm thinking even though so many people know we're registered at fortunoff's I'm not too sure I want to take a chance if something happens and they close in april or something. I'm going to check some stuff out, maybe call bloomies and see what they can do for us as far as switching things over goes. I just pulled up the fortunoff's website and NOTHING has changed, I think it's really poor business practice to leave all of us registrants in the lurch, the people that bought this place are NOTHING like the original owners, they should be ashamed of themselves, they ran this amazing store into the ground!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so honestly, just switch. Thats MHO! I was there last night, they dont have mutiples and are not getting more in anytime soon. If u dont want to pull ur registry, dont, but at least take it off what u r giving to ur guests! Open a new one and tell ur guests about the new one, its really poor business practice what they r doing. They r letting brand new brides and grooms register and its just not fair.
