I didn't see one of these threads today so I thought something might be wrong. No worries, I took the liberty of starting this thread myself

Re: Fortunoff going out of business?!
They were bought by the parent company of Lord and Taylor so they will still be in business. Eventually they will change marketing concepts but probably remain pretty much the same. Lord and Taylor will be selling Fortuoff jewelry and other things fortunoffs is known for.

Re: Fortunoff going out of business?!
This shouldn't be allowed. I just read the article on Newsday's website regarding their stopping the use of Gift Cards.. Is this the same as their merchandise credits too? Shouldn't there have been a public announcement letting us know we needed to use them before they expired?

LAST YEAR this thread was started as a joke because last year it was speculation and rumors that Fortunoff was closing and there where about 10 diffrent threads started by 10 difffrent people for about an month straight every day in shock about Fortunoff's.

Re: Fortunoff going out of business?!
I went on Monday and used the last of my giftcards and merchandise credit (only because my hubby and I were both off). My Aunt called me on Tuesday to tell me I had to use them by the end of the day and I was so happy that I went on Monday. For the ladies who have gift cards can the person that purchased them for you dispute the charge with the c/c company, if used to purchase. That is really unfair since they did take and have there money. So if L&T bought them is the store going to stay open but change there name?

It isn't L&T that bought them out, it's the equity firm that also manages L&T. They were hoping to expand Fortunoff's to add their jewelry and furniture division to L&T stores, but after poor management and planning, plus the economic crisis, Fortunoff has taken a nosedive and the firm filed the chain into Bankruptcy. Regardless, I'm not giving my business to L&T from now on either.
I posted a response on another thread about what current Fortunoff's giftcard holders can do. It's not much, but it's something if you want to stay proactive about the whole situation.
