Fortunoff Registry Question (long)

Fortunoff Registry Question (long)

Alright we registered for both our good china (vera wang - grosgrain) as well as our everyday stuff (villeroy & Boch - switch 3) there. Well even thought it is listed on their registry as fine and casual china - when it goes on my registry list it is all listed under dinnerware. They list the everday stuff first.
Bloomingdales separates these two items and lists them as everyday and fine china. I am afraid if I keep it listed the way it is people will only buy us the everyday stuff and not the formal china since it is listed first and is much cheaper.
We registered at Bloomingdales because my mother was being a pain - and says that our family will only know bloomingdales and not fortunoffs and so they want us registered there so they can tell our family to shop at bloomies (they will not tell my family about fortunoffs)
My friends and my FH family will know about both. But with the prices being better at fortunoff's I think that most people will not even look at the Bloomies sight. So I am a little lost as to what to do. If I leave the everday off of Fortunoff's then we probably won't get it at all. But if I put it up there I'm afraid we won't get any of our good china.
Advice?

This is not going to be much help, but I would leave it on there. If it's something you really like, leave it. Once people go to Fortunoff and look around and see the Vera Wang, I'm sure they'll get the idea that that is your formal china. Isn't the Vera Wang stuff in the formal china section? I don't think you will have a problem. JMO! Good luck! I hope you get it!

I think people will be able to tell the difference between the 2 types of china. I wouldn't worry about it. Unless you think your family who will shop at Bloomies is more likely to buy you the formal china. Then maybe you shoudl move that to the Bloomies registry. JMO.

My advice would be to leave it allon your Fortunoff's registry. I am sure when they go to purchase it, they can decifer between fine chine and everyday by looking at the different pieces, they can also ask for help in the store & the saleperson would explain the difference to them.

By the way, great choices!

Re: Fortunoff Registry Question (long)

I have both formal and casual on bloomingdales and they separate it out.
I guess you are right - one of my bm's thought it looked strange on the fortunoff's site simply because they list everything under dinnerware (not formal or casual) and they list the casual china first. My friend's registry is the same but they list her everyday china AFTER her formal china. I thought maybe it was because we put one on first because it is not listed alphabetically.
Thanks for the advice I guess I will leave both on there then.

Re: Fortunoff Registry Question (long)

Leave it on.
I used to work at fortunoff in that department.
This is the situation...

All the better dinnerwear is listed under the dinnerwear title and is in the dinnerwear dept.
You reg. for two very nice patterns.
That's why they are listed that way.
If you had gone to the Housewears dept. And chosen the dishes there (the very casual dishes) they would be listed under that department.

Don't worry about what people will buy. First of all, everyone wants to see what the patterns look like, when they shop at the store. The sales people will know that the vera is your formal.
And if you don't get everything, you can allways exchange to make your set.(you'll get plenty of things you change your mind about!)
Make sure you have reg. for enough.
We can talk more about this tonight!
See you there.

I would leave it because I believe people usually have in mind how much they want to spend when buying gifts off the registry, I didn't even have my shower yet and I have 9 settings plus accent plates of my formal china..
