Fortunoff vent...

Fortunoff vent...

Up until now, everything has been a wonderful experience with Fortunoff.

But, now that my shower has passed, it's a different story.

First, my mom told me that she was upset because when she had her gift wrapped, they wouldn't allow her to take and extra piece of ribbon to add to the package (she wanted a little piece of a different color ribbon to tie on the bow) But, they would not allow her to have it.

Today, I went to do some exchanging. I was told when I registered that when it was time for returns, to just take everything to the bridal registry. They would do it all at once, to save me the trouble of running around to all of the different departments.

Well, I wait on line at the bridal registry, only to be told, 'No, you have to go to the individual departments.'

I say, 'but, I was told when I registered that I would only have to come back here.'

She says, 'we don't do that any more. It became to problematic for all of the different departments.'

So, I start to say, 'it would have been nice to send out a notice to let us know that the process has changed. I have been w...'

And, SHE THEN ASKS THE PEOPLE BEHIND ME IF THEY NEED HELP

Re: Fortunoff vent...

Same thing happened to me with the returns except, I went to the register where I remember them doing all registry returns & they told me I had to go to each dept. So I roll my cart full of stuff to a register in the back & the girl tells me registry returns are only done in the dept I just came from!!!!!

I started a rant 'They just told me blah blah blah ...' so she took the ONE item and I spent the rest of my lunch hour running all over Fortunoff!!!

Oh yeah, at the final return an old lady slips in front of me on line. As she's finishing up some D!CK who works there escorts this old man to the front of the line and says 'Hon (register lady) can you take Mr So & So quick?' I was about to explode!!!! Never mind he was buying some stupid thing that rang up $1.25!!!! My god, it took him forever to take out two damn dollar bills from his wallet.

Oh yeah, and that was the register where I was exchanging my knife block set because one of the knives was USED!!!

Im so sorry!! I had a terrible time with Fortunoffs..i should have posted it to warn brides, I would receive gifts with no card, so every time I had a gift, I had to call Fortunoffs for them to tell me who bought things, my sister had a hard time ordering my china, she was charged double and then they took forever to credit it back, they kept scrweing up my regisrty saying I had more than I had, after the wedidng when I brought things in to exchange them, I was treated like CRAP, had to drive to a second store because the one by me only dealt with housewares, it wsa friggin pain in the ***!!!! If I could redo it, I wouldnt have registred with them!
The only thing I liked was the 10 % after the wedding, you can use it twice and that helped me alot with buying my china!

Haven't had my shower yet but I know they are really annoying. Gift wrap is the worst.

I plan to call ahead and get the manager to wait for me when i walk in. I worked as a buyer for years and I know that the people who work at the registers are often unaware of store policy and don't care if you come back. The buyers and managers care because it affect their bonus!
I will try to call ahead and tell them what I plan to do and wait until they can meet me. There is no way I'm going around to every department. I'll get the store manager to do it for me and tell him if it works out well - I'll finish my registry there. If not - I'll get the stuff at the outlets in Riverhead where most of the Lenox stuff is cheaper anyway!

I've already had trouble and by the way - they don't even check their email so don't try to email them questions or to ask for help. It's been 8 months and they didn't respond to 3 emails of mine.

If Macy's or Bloomies were better - I'd go there. Macy's is worse and Bloomies is a little more expensive.

Oh wow! Thanks for the information ladies! I was thinking about registering there for the shower/wedding, but if there's this much trouble to exchange/return, then maybe not. I live in CT, and I'm not about to register somewhere if I have to have so much trouble to return/exchange things.

I agree with all you have said.....especially about macys and bloomingdales and the email's to Fortuneoff..It took 3 e-mails to have them remove three items on my registry that were showing as 5 million dollars!!!!
Then they had somethoing purchased that never were...I'm staying with it and hope it gets better because really there is no where else!
