Word on the street is they may be going bankrupt. Of course this is not confirmed but I know people who work there and they are very concerned for their jobs. Apparently they are not issuing anymore gift cards etc and I was advised (by a friend) to use whatever credit etc i have there asap...

i heard this too...my aunt got fh and i a gift card for fortunoffs and she called me the other day panicked! She was like 'you have to go use the card before they close i don't want it to go to waste' haha

they are also marking up jewlery prices!!!! (My boss at the second job's wife works in jewlery at Fortunoff's..she said they are marking up prices so when they 'discount' the customers are really paying full price...)

Alright so I posted something similar on the 09 board but here it is:
My bm works for them. They are no longer opening up credit cards, no new gifts cards allowed. They are up for sell again. Most likely being bought by a well-known liquidation company. But things are really not looking good, their distributors are not shipping to them.

Sadly they are not the only ones who do this. A friend of mine used to manage a KAY and she said that most things were like double the price at least. She said it's crazy what people will pay and its such a dishonest...

I think they only do this for their exclusive pieces because I just bought my wedding band their last weekend and it was 40% off because it matches my e-ring and I know the price it is with the compan itself and it was def. cheaper.

the reason jewlery is being marked up is b/c all there stuff there jewels were suppose to start selling in lord and taylor stores right b4 this happened, now that that's not happening, they have to make their money back.

thats what the circuit city did near me when they were closing...they kept saying 60% off everything...but everything was marked up so it really didn't seem like anything was really on sale...sneaky bastards!
