Found a tick on Cosmo!!!

I just came back from the vet, and it turns out its a dog tick, but he said that it may carry Lyme Disease

It turns out Cosmo was NOT vaccinated with the vaccine against it

Its so said! And there is nothing that we can do, we have to wait 3 months to see if he has it and only than we can do something about it!

I am so upset!

I don't think most dogs get the Lyme vaccine. There have been reports that it is dangerous to some dogs.
I wouldn't worry too much about the tick! Its good that you found it and had it taken care of. My parent's dog had a tick, and no Lyme disease...he's now 12. So don't worry!

I didn't think that this was the season for ticks but what do I know?

My FILs have a dog with Lyme disease. He's got aches and pains!!!

Re: Found a tick on Cosmo!!!

We made Bruno get that shot last summer and he was out of whack for about 3 days and had a big lump on his side for over a week. I regretted making him so miserable but I did it because
1) there were weeds across the street from our apt that they were clearing to make room for new homes and strange things were creeping and crawling out of there
2) my 'uncle-in-laws' dog had a tick and was paralyzed for a while so I completely freaked out when the above was happening

Our dogs get the Lyme shot every year. I also pull ticks off them all the time (even with Frontline).

My Charlie gets ticks on him every so often but after 12 1/2 years, he's still kicking. Actually, I saw one walking around on him the other day - little b@stards. I hate ticks!

We didnt opt for the lyme vaccine, we are never anywhere woody or with long grass.

Its a good thing you took Ciosmo to the vet and Im sure he'll be ok!
