Fourth Rescue Me of the season at 10 & 11 tonight!

Although I love the show, I was a little disturbed by that scene with Tommy and Janice at the end, made me uncomfortable. I had to turn it off, it was too violent for me. Although once I flipped it back on, she seemed fine.

I just love that show but last night was disturbing I have to agree. I dont think the Tommy and Janet thing needed to be so violent and the whole probie and roomate thing turned my stomach. I love Dennis Leary though. Cant wait till next week. I run home from work and put the kids to bed so I can watch in piece and quite.

Why did the show have to make Tommy rape Janet??

DIdn't it seem like Johnny knew Tommy was going to do something violent? What was that about the bartender holding Johnny's gun? It was like Johnny was giving Tommy a certain amount of time ........and that then Johnny was going to bust in hoping to catch him in the act.

I thought for sure when Johnny opened the door that Janet was going to tell him what happened......but I think she held back b/c then Johnny might have actually shot Tommy.......and then there would be no more show.

But that f*ck*ng EVIL, EERIE grin on Tommy's face when he was leaving. Ugh.

Janet's reaction made it *seem* like she was ok, but I think she was just pretending so Tommy would get the hell outta there.

I'm really disturbed by this whole thing because it made it look like the show was condoning what Tommy did. I hope there will be repercussions in upcoming episodes.

If not, I'm writing in to the show!!!!!!!

P.S. I just took a quick look at the Rescue Me / FX web site and they have a message board and people are actually supporting what Tommy did, one person saying she missed it, but she bets 'that was hot'; 'you know Janet likes it rough'; 'she got what was coming to her', 'I hope she gets pregnant with the heir,' etc. I'm sure plenty of rapists and rapists-to-be are going to feel justified by these types of shows and comments. Just what the world needs!

I love the show but I totally missed some stuff either from the end of last season of the begining of this season.so if someone could fill me in please!! I need to have them on DVD.

What happend to Tommy's son?
Why is the Uncle in jail?
Does Janet know about Tommy and the SIL?
Lou's girlfriend took all of his money?
Is the probie gay? I am not sure what all the BJ talk was about. Did they?

I think that's it for now. I love the show and Dennis leary. I love Dean Winter (think thats his name) who plays Johnny. I used to watch him on oz. I think he is so handsome.

I agree. It was distrubing to me. I do think that was what the writers wanted but I dont know.. Well have to see. Maybe Janet and Mrs. T will both be pregnant? It was just too crazy. IMO

He was hit by a car while riding his bike. It was a drunk driver who hit him. Tommy was there and Janet blamed him because the son did not have his helmet on.

Why is the Uncle in jail?
The uncle killed the drunk driver. He shot him.

Does Janet know about Tommy and the SIL?
Do you mean Tommy & Sheila (his cousin's widow)? Yes, she knows.

Lou's girlfriend took all of his money?
Yes, she was a con artist/porn star.

Is the probie gay? I am not sure what all the BJ talk was about. Did they?
Probie says he's not gay, but his roommate was giving him a BJ. I hope that he's just confused. That would be sad if he is gay.

Yeah, Um, I was wondering... WHAT!?!? Was it necessary to have a rape scene? Granted, the show ALWAYS pushes the envelope, but THAT was intense! I only caught bits and pieces of it last night (great bit to see! )

I needed to see everything. I have to catch up!!

Certainly don't know what the show intended, except possibly to intend people to be confused....however, as a social worker and sociology major, I feel compelled to mention that in ours and many cultures, rape is often incorrectly blamed on the victim in many ways and the 'fantasy' exists that the victims are actually enjoying it. It's certainly possible that the writers/producers (incl Denis Leary) of this show buy into that fantasy. Rape is often glorified (or its effects minimized) in the media. I

Someone on the show's msg board wrote: 'She didn't scream rape or no, therefore she was not raped.'

Well, Tommy's brother didn't scream out: 'you're beating me up. No, don't do it.' But that does not negate the fact that he was beat up.

Anyhow, the one thing I thought they did sort of well was portraying the extreme complexity of emotions there........I saw Janet as trying to fight him off, then realizing it was futile, giving up fighting, then looking at him like there's all this history and depth of emotion and conflicting feelings there. Then I think she was either in shock or covered up how she was feeling so (a) Tommy would leave before hurting her worse and (b) hiding it from the bro, so the bro didn't go hunt Tommy down and really kill him.

Anyhow, sometimes it's important to ask, 'why is this show being written this way?' Even, 'why is Janet portrayed as someone the viewer would develop animosity for?' Her character is out to take Tommy for every penny, shacking up with his brother and blaming him for the son's death and being generally very unlikeable. Maybe Denis Leary is playing out some aggressive fantasies.

Anyhow, as you can see, I think it's very disturbing because probably a lot of people are very into this show and possibly look up to the Denis Leary character and I really see it as the way they wrote that scene, it made it seem like what he did was ok. It's not ok!

Probie and his roommie were were watching a sports game. Probie was on the couch drinking a beer and told his roomie that he had to see this(what was going on in the game.) His his popped up from 'down there.' Then later in the show they were talking about how they are not gay and that Probie gets the BJs. the roommie asked if probie would ever do it and he said no way.

he had sex wtih his wife to prove that he could still get her. That his brother's got nothing on him. She enjoyed it, and then changed quickly to cover it up. She probably didn't expect she would enjoy it so much.

I love that show. and IMO ProBe is gay. He's in denial. Straight men don't let other men give them BJ's. LOL

I was out and didn't get to watch!!!!

Do they replay during the week?
