Those are good tips and that same advice and more can be found in 'Bridal Bargains: Secrets to Throwing a Fantastic Wedding on a Realistic Budget (Bridal Bargains)' by Denise and Alan Fields. It is such a great book!!! I love it!!
Its a really great book...$10 on amazon or $5 used...it has really helped me with my planning
ex tip: when making purchases with large amounts of money ($50 and up) use your credit card b/c companies automatically protect the customer - shop burns down/item not as desired you can get a full refund!!! especially advised for buying your gown

Yeah I thought it was interesting too about don't mention your a bride. I was thinking - tell the DJ that your just throwing a party and when he gets there he'll see it's not 'just a party', I'm sure he won't be too happy. Although, I do wonder if it's cheaper if you say your renewing your vows or if you say it's an anniversary party - this way you can still order all the flowers.
I think there are lots of other ways to save money that were not mentioned, but I do wonder if the book is any good - the 'Smart Chic Wedding planning' book.
Fox 5's web site had some additional info - like moving the wedding to a day other than saturday - I think we're all already familiar with that trick.
