Fox Hollow or Thatched Cottage?

Fox Hollow or Thatched Cottage?

I am between Fox Hollow and Thatched Cottage for my wedding reception...

The hang up I have with Fox Hollow is that I would be in the Brier Fox room for the reception and the band is to one side of the room behind the guests' tables. Did only else have a issue with that?

The hang up I have Thatched Cottage is they are a little pricey and from reading the posts about them, they are unwilling to work with you on price.

Any comments or suggests would be very helpful...

are those your 2 options?? have you checked chateau briand?? they are affiliated with Fox Hollow as well...I checked Fox Hollow but the room they were offering us for our reception wasn't of our taste (the garden terrace room) so that's why we didn't pick Fox Hollow although is a beautiful place i've never been to Thatched Coattage...but if you haven't look at other places i suggest you to look at other places.

It's just my opinion, but I was not happy with Thatched Cottage. They didn't treat us very nicely when we went there for our appointment and we were a bit unimpressed with the pricing as well as the ballroom. I didn't look at Fox Hollow but I have heard it's very nice. I LOVE Larkfield Manor and they had great prices...you could try them too if you want! Ask for Maryanne, she's great!

i guess i am a bit biased because i booked w/ Fox Hollow.. (Garden Terrace Room). I thought the place was beautiful and they gave me the most for my $.

I visited both places

Fox hollow is definitely at a better price pt- we would have picked the garden room as we didn't like the ballroom, very dark for us.

Liked thatched cottage- but not the outside- obviously i picked WM as I love the outdoors-
there is the possibility of having only your wedding at TC while at FH there are multiple weddings

I think you might be better off visiting some more places- I have heard good things about Larkfield manor

I think swan club also gives alot for the money

I fell in love with Fox Hollow rustic elegance. I'm in the garden terrace room. But I went to the thatched cottage for awedding and i thought it was amazing. The gardens were great and I loved that the CH was right off the gardens. As a guest I got some beautiful pictures. THe chef is the owner and went around carving extra meat during the meal. Thatched cottage also only does one wedding at a time. Fox Hollow does 2 at a time during the day and again at night. That could be part of the price difference. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

Thatched Cottage hands down! They are a little pricey but I think that they are worth it. I heard they also throw alot of stuff in right before your wedding. Toniann was willing to negotiate with me as to minimum number of guests:)

If you are only choosing between the two I would go with the Thatched Cottage. I didn't like the Garden Room set up at the Fox Hollow. It was long and narrow, and we would be at one end the guests in the middle and the band by the entrance. The Thatched Cottage is pricey but it's beautiful!

Re: Fox Hollow or Thatched Cottage?

I have been looking at soooo many places and TC and FH were at my top. I think the problem is that I am having about 125 people at the reception and I am finding out that is on the small side for a wedding.

I looked at Larkfield manor, crestwood manor, thatched cottage, Chateuu La Mer, Venetian Yacht club, swan club, The Vanderbilt museum, fox hollow, harbor club, Westbury manor, metropolitan, Verdi's, Riviera...

and this weekend I am going to look at the Northport Yacht club, Floral Terrace, and Hamlet Wind Watch...

I haven't found a place where I walked in and fell in love with the place...but maybe I am being too picky...

but I am almost about ready to be done with looking at reception halls....

not to add to your list, but the Riveria in massapequa is surpossed to be really nice, esp for smaller weddings. I think they are pretty affordable too!

ditto. I just went there for my final meeting the other night and I fell in love all over again for the Garden Terrace room. The Briar Fox room is nice as well (too small for my wedding) and will be where my CH is if it rains.

Well I love Fox Hollow, obviously, I had my wedding there and it was BEYOND perfect. However, if you are having a band, I'm not sure the Briar Fox room would be right for you. We had a DJ w/ a percussionist and people complained it was really loud. I honestly barely heard it, but they said it bothered them. Not all, just a few people.

I've been to the Thatched Cottage and I don't know if there is more than one room, but the room that the wedding we went to was in didn't impress me. It seemed outdated, small and plain. We couldn't even see the bride and groom from where we were. I remember them being kind of around a corned - though they may have chose that, I don't know. The CH was awesome though and I loved the outside decor.

I am biased and would say go with The Thatched Cottage. I honestly think it's a matter of opinion and personal taste. We chose The Thatched Cottage because it just seemed to be what we were looking for and weloved the outdoor area and newly renovated cocktail hour room.
My best friend got married at The Fox Hollow (I don't remember which room) and they're wedding was great.
They're both really pretty, just different. We found The Thatched Cottage to be pretty flexible and nice to work with so far.
Good Luck!

If I had to choose between the two, I would go with Fox Hollow. But, if you havent had that 'OMG this is the hall' feeling yet, keep looking and dont settle.
