fox hollow room block vent

fox hollow room block vent

I did a lot of pricing around and weighting out the different options before I commited myself to this room block. Fox hollow gave me a $169 price on a room that was at the time priced at $269, which seemed like a great deal. Many people have expressed interest in staying at the hotel, which was expected as most of our guests are coming from brooklyn and staten island. I have been keeping track of the bookings as I wanted to make sure that we met the minimum. Noone expect for the closest family members has booked the rooms and today I found out why... The rooms are currently at $169 without the block and fireman and other 'everyday heros', which many of our guests are, qualify for '25% OFF!!!' from that price, if booking online. I am soo angry as I feel like I did not get any sort of bargain for my guests, and some would actually be paying a penalty for utilizing the room block. Has anybody had this experience where your room block turned out not to be such a bargain?

Yes! We are using Sheraton and they are underselling the roomblock rate by $20.00 a night with AAA. Also discovered that they do not count number of nights reserved but rooms reserved. So frustrating! It seems this is common.

I just did a room block at Fox Hollow and it's 184 a night, which was after talking them down from 189. The night after sending the contract in I realized it's the studio suites not even the 1 bedroom suites...now I'm kicking myself and regretting my decision. You'd think since they are already getting so much of my money for the recpetion they would have done better. It is a nice hotel but I feel it's just a little too much to ask guests to pay so I also got a room block at the Holiday Inn in Plainview for 129 a night. Kicking myself twice now lol

Could the people who have booked with the block discount book another room with the 25% off, then have someone else who needs the room take it and pay them back?

This is good info - FH's dad is a Yonkers cop and should get whatever discount available to his family. I do want to call for our block soon, though, because I'd be thrilled to get the 169 for everyone else.

I was annoyed at the sheraton when I found out that my sister booked a room online with AAA for 105 and my block was 119. Called and tried to get the block rate lowered but they would not. I then tried to book online for the same nights and there were no more AAA rates left. So, I do have the lowest rate for the nights. My sister got lucky.

Sometimes you get lucky booking online.

I have a block at the Hilton Garden Inn in Plainview right off the LIE and got a rate of $115 a night. They have been awesome to work with -- highly recommend them!

What a coincidence. I haven't booked my block yet, but I need to do so soon. So I just happened to Google Holiday Inn on Old Country Road a few minutes before reading this thread and the current rate for rooms is $137. I was quoted $159 for the group rate!

I put a call in to them to see if they would give me the lower price, but no one is picking up the phone. Go figure.

I also haven't booked my block yet as my wedding is still over 9 months away but I hope I do not have these issues. I will be very upset if the hotels tries to beat me and my out of state guests. Sorry you all had to deal with this non-sense during the planning of your weddings.

I ended up deciding against doing a room block. The quotes I got were often only $5 or $10 off the published price, and most of my family will probably stay at the absolute lowest price they can find, not at a hotel just because I booked a block. I really hope you don't end up losing money on your room block!

Yup, this is why we did not book the Holiday Inn, the phone rings and rings. When we went there, the two people at the desk couldn't give us directionto the catering hall where their sales rep was trying to book people! Nor did it occur to them to use the computer in front of them to pull up directions.

Frankly, the best service we got was at the Marriott but they wanted money out front for rooms.

SO ANNOYING!
