NYC schools closed for three days (possibly more). My mom is worried that they'll make us make up the days at the end of the year. Our last day is June 26 and my wedding is July 5. I'm not worried, if I have to I'll take days off. This is not hampering my plans at all. I hope everyone is doing well and getting through.

My sister, family and countless friends are homeless, carless and are in such shock of all that happened. Thankfully everyone is healthy and in good spirits.

Hmm While I agree that many of us are very lucky and that others have suffered terribly, I don't think we should jump on each other for expressing distress about the smaller ways this has affected us. Yes, being worried about a honeymoon may seem insignificant, but I bet all of us can relate to being stressed over how this interferes with our plans while still being grateful and concerned for others. LIW is a place to talk about these things that no one else really understands as a community. I think being critical of someone for expressing their own frustrations is best left off the boards.

ITA, while it's absolutely horrible and if there's anything I can do for those less fortunate (maybe we can form a group or something on LIW to help out??) please let me know. But please don't judge how other people feel about their own personal situations. Everyone's feelings are their own and I don't think anyone has a right to criticize people for their feelings.

Your criticizing me for my feelings. I logged onto this site to escape reality for a few minutes and was disgusted. It's nice to see how much people come together in difficult times and I expected a little more sympathy since this really affects all LI and many of its brides.

Also to note, my small little community church, which is where I am getting married at in 7 months was likely flooded but I haven't heard anything. Just nothing, we all have wedding concerns ....

Sandra325, the above post was posted before the storm started to get bad and I'm sure she meant nothing insensitive about it.I'm sure we all feel bad for those that have lost so much in this devastation. I myself have friends that were in evacuation areas and are still trying to reach out and see how they are doing.

ITA - There is no need for any of us to jump down each others throats. The storm was harrendous, no one could've predicted the damage. My family and friends who live in Long Beach lost their houses, cars, pets, and countless personal items some irreplaceable. It is very sad. But I still 100% sympathize with those who lost ANYTHING (wedding related or not). It's nobody's fault but mother nature's. I don't know Kristen personally, but I highly doubt she meant that in a cruel or offensive manner. Like it was said, LIW is a place for brides and grroms to come and vent and if there was a chance that my wedding wouldve been affected by this storm, this is the first place i'd go to look for support after all it is a website dedicated to Long Island 'Weddings.' And, often people deal with grief in different ways (laugh, cry, get angry, get sad etc.) Everyone's different and everyone's thoughts should be respected.Welcome New Vendors
