so i started to call for room block at hotels and FOUR hotels near my RH (east wind) are BOOKED SOLID for my weekend- isnt that insane???? its 10 months before the wedding and its not like the area is a hot spot for vacations. WHAT DO I DO???? i'm scR@$%d for all my OOT guests.....
you guys know of any hotels? i tried Hilton garden Inn- sold out Holiday Inn express- sold out Best Western- sold out Hampton Inn- Sold out and the Inn at east wind is too expensive...
plus i started to check hotels further east like in jamesport and stuff and they all require a 2 night stay- so ridiculous

What about the LaQuinta in Islip/Bohemia? I am looking online and it is 18 miles away from your RH!
its not that its a hott spot, but if there are many RH's in the area, then other girls have blocked rooms for their weddings. Dont worry youll find something

It's possible that at a lot of those blocks are probably over reserved for weddings, so try to have them put you on a wait list and when they release rooms, they can go to yours. There also might be cancellations too.
A second option you might look for B&Bs in that area. I know they're not probably what you're looking for but could be an option of nothing else works out.

Exit 63 of the LIE has two hotels, a Radison and a Hampton Inn...not super close but the closest your going to get to East Wind if all the East End Hotels are booked. There are also all the airport hotels, there is a Holiday Inn in Ronkonkoma, a La Quinta, and Marriott, all exit 60 off the LIE.

i think it's also because the US Open Golf Championship is from June 15-21. I know when I went to block rooms, 2 hotels mentioned that to me. They said I just made it because the people come in like a week before so they have like 2 or 3 weeks blocked off for that event. And 1 hotel wouldn't even give me a rate without talking to her manager.
i was like what?!?!?!? I didn't even think about that!!!

NO WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY the US open?? just my luck that would land on the same weekend as my wedding!?!?!??! AHHHHHHHHhhhhhh

I hear ya - I am the same weekend and looked for hotels in May when we booked our RH in Woodbury and all the nicer ones were already booked then. It is definitely because of the US Open Mens Golf tournament - corporations have booked rooms years in advance for it since it's rarely here. I thought I was so good checking all sporting events for 2009 but never even thought to check golf!

Keep in mind that the hotel sends out a contract to be signed......if they don't receive it by a certain date maybe the end of september they no longer hold the rooms. this happened to me for my wedding.
I called 2 x's and was told no rooms and then when I called again all of a sudden they were available. I would call back at the end of the month.

OMG- THe US Open......I would send out the STD as soon as you can & advise them your guests too book those rooms because they are going to be very hard to come by as the date gets closer. You would not want the hotels to pull any shanagans.

When I called those hotel to block 6 months in advance they told me they are completely booked.
My sister called Holiday in Riverhead, 2 months before wedding, and was able to get a room.
I have a list somewhere of B&B's in the area, they are only 3 rooms each but a lot of them are very nice about holding rooms.
You may want to also encourage your guests who are OOT to book rooms now.

Those are the only large hotels this far east. There's nothing with more than 15 rooms or so east of Riverhead.
There's also The BayView , but it only has 7 rooms.
That's also the weekend of the Strawberry Festival - you're in full swing for harvest, pick-your-own, etc etc.
Yes i tried those 2 and its a TWO night minimum which my guests arent gonna do- they live in brooklyn & NJ so its not a vacation for them- its just far to drive home the night of the wedding!
i cant believe its also STRAWBERRY festival- which is right cause fathers day is that sunday- OMG i couldnt have picked a more festival packed weekend! LOL
