Freaking Out!

Freaking Out!

Hey Guys,
I know someone on here the other day wrote about how something going on in her life gave her a real jolt into reality. I am experiencing this as well. I wrote on her awhile ago about searching for a job and unfortunately, I am still searching. I work part-time jobs but nothing bringing in much. (not to mention, I have no health insurance) Well just a few days ago, my father got word that he was laid off. I am very concerned about my family. I never thought that my family would be in this position. I feel like there has to be something that I can do to help, I have a 12 year old sister that depends on my parents.
Obviously, this may put a stop to some of the wedding planning. Fortunatly, my fiance has a great job but I don't want to burden him with all the wedding expenses. UGH this is so difficult. Please be grateful for the jobs you have! This has defintely been an awakening experience.

Everyday for me it is scary.....my company isn't fairing that well and we always here rumors of more layoffs. I am just hoping that I can stay here a bit longer to at least pay off some more debt. I have been in a position where I had a job that didn't really pay my bills and it was like the most stressful part of my life. I just pray that I don't get laid off.

I agree. My old company went out of business, but I was fortunate enough to find something before I was laid off. But FH was laid off just before Thanksgiving and JUST found a new job. Times are tough right now, but you'll learn how to get by and cut costs (not just wedding, but in general). People are adaptable - we're meant to change as situations change. And remember, the country has been through this before and pulled through successfully. I have no doubt that we will all get through it. It'll just take time and patience.

'People are adaptable - we're meant to change as situations change' That is really true. I never thought of it like that. I think thats what is making it so hard for my dad. He has been in his career for 22 years, this is a MAJOR adjustment. Thanks for understanding.

Anytime Gotta stay positive during these times, or else you'll make yourself crazy.

definitely take it easy. its really tough. you can either do something very small and simple or not do it at all and just sign the papers.

if you have a nice size backyard, you can definitely have a intimate wedding there-- i would love to do that, but i live in the City and unfortunately we dont have backyards.

my fh got laid off in Nov for about 3 months and we managed to pull through. as long as you guys stay positive and work together, it'll be fine. just stay positive and support one another 'emotionally, physically and financially' afterall, thats why people marry their significant others -- right? also, you gotta think of this as your wedding with ur fh, so dont think that having him to pay for most of the things will cause a financial burden. the wedding is for the two of u, not just you. I hope all this helps and this is JMHO ;)

Wow, your post really hit home for me. I know that if my parents lost their jobs I would be crushed, even more so than if I lost my own. There's something about it that just seems so inherently wrong. They are my parents, I expect them to be okay, and it would be tremendously difficult if they werent. I can definitely see how you feel the way you do. I will keep you and your family in my prayers!!! I hope that you and your father can find work and soon.

What if you guys went to sandals and just flew out your immediate family? They could stay at the beaches resort or something and it might actually be less than a wedding here. I'm not sure how much you're put down in deposits and such, but its an option i think about for myself alot.
