Freaking out

Freaking out

Is anyone else starting to freak out over money for the wedding?????

FH and I have been paying for everything and I have been taking on A LOT of the little things along with 1/2 of the big vendors. FH has been paying for the rest of the vendors as well.

FH and I have been househunting and with just under 3 months to the wedding I am really starting to freak out over money. AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Am I the only one feeling like this?

I started to freak out right before the wedding as well when I started to realize how much in tips you have to give....but take a deep breath and you can find ways to cut back on certain things as you get closer. We're in the market to buy a house too and we just realized we need to slow down and wait for the right time/house and not worry so much with all that ishappening. Just ENJOY the planning and know that it will all work out and it is all worth it in the end. We had the BEST day ever on our wedding. You guys will too.

Yesssss!! I have been keeping this excel spread sheet with what our budget is with what we've spent and what money we have and need... I think I check it 5 times a day because I am constantly trying to figure out what i can cut back on and how else we can get the money we still need. You are not alone!!

Yes we totally freaked out about 2 months out from the wedding. The wedding costs kept adding up plus we had all of our regular bills, there were a few times when I just cried because I was so overwhelmed by the costs. All you can do is try not to stress, try to put everything into prospective, and try to cut corners where you can. It all works out in the end.

I'm with you!!

I'm freaking out most about the huge bill from the reception hall.
We are paying for it by ourselves too.

We aren't house hunting until after the wedding-we have to sell each of our places that we already own so that will be our post-wedding stress.

We can do it!! Stay positive.

I have been worried all along. We have no help except from my mom who bought my dress.
I know next month I'll be even more stressed as we pay off the vendors!!!

Re: Freaking out

I am totally freaking out about it. FH and I are also house-hunting while doing the whole wedding thing. I'm fine until we see a house we're interested in and then I start to panic doing the numbers.

At this point, I feel really comfortable with saying we have enough $$$ for a kick-a$$ wedding. We also have a really nice downpayment on a house. Unfortunately, I don't think we have both at the same time! FH assures me it will all be ok, but I'm in a panic anyway.

Re: Freaking out

We have the money for the down payment for a house seperate from the wedding money that I have almost all set aside too. I just hate that every month my credit card is insane and I cannot seem to get it down

My mom keeps telling me to get used to it b/c once we have a house the bill will be even worse.

I just need to calm down already. FH keeps telling me that it will all work out too but he doesnt see how the little things add up. Its insane

Re: Freaking out

we have the money in separate accounts too, but I keep thinking that if we weren't doing the wedding.........

For some strange reason the monthly payments don't freak me out - it's the 'we are spending every dime we've saved within a 6 month period' that's freaking me out. I feel like we've both worked so hard for so long to get our savings accounts up to X amount and then POOF it's going to be gone........

You're not alone!!

my date is closer than yours and i'm starting to freak out too. also becuase of the cost of the RH. it hurts that you can't put any final payments on credit cards. i do understand why-but it would make things easier for the moment. i'm still gonna be paying those credit cards bills after the wedding anyway.
We weren't expecting to be stuck paying for all of it ourselves- i really don't know why we're not getting more help from my folks. (they know it's traditionally their duty).
We're house hunting too- in FL.
not sure how we're going to have the money to move after the wedding either.
the icing on the cake is that my dress still hasn't come in yet. so needless to say i'm just freaking out a bit!!!!

Re: Freaking out

I am, and I'm not, all at the same time. I am, because, let's face it, I'm cheap, and it physically pains me to have to spend this kind of money. Also, I have a lot of little things to do still, and since the little things are my responsibility, it's really hard because I now have like NO expendable cash, I really only have enough for my bills and not much more. Savings? Forget that!

And then I'm not, because I know that I'm still looking at it as my money and FH's money, not OUR money...and overall, we're good. We're in a decent place, better than a lot of our contemporaries, and while we're casually looking for a house, we haven't seen anything we really would liked enough to buy, and we're certainly not going to buy something we don't like just because we feel the gun is to our heads 5 months out. So we're going to end up renting 99.9% certain, and that means we'll still have our savings, and the wedding won't be as big of a hit as if we bought a house and were depleted, and then had to shell out more on top of it. Plus, we're really not going crazy, we have a modest budget compared to those out in LIW world, and overall...I think we'll be fine with the money. My main freak out is just that time is running out, not money!
