freaking out over guest list!!!

Ok, originally, I thought I'd have around 140 guests at my wedding. Well our guest list is at 210!! Way more than I expected!! Do you think I'll get at least 20 'no's'? I really want no more than 170-180 attending, but that just does not seem feasible right now. I hate to cut the list, but I'm freaking out right now!!! Any advice? Thanks

you'll probably get more than 20 no's. my guest list went from 180 to 240 (which was more than my hall can even hold) and we got a lot more no's than we thought. i think we had 165 come to the wedding.

They say 20% will say no meanign 42 will say no according to this but I have heard of people getting less than 20%--I guess it really depends. I am also having the same problem I am at 286 on my guest list & only want about 220 at the reception--hopefully it will work out. I hope it does for u

I am glad that I made you feel better --I just hope my mom doesn't add anyone else especially since FI & I are paying for a good percentage of the wedding.

Yeah.....I hear you. Look at the list and see if you know if anyone won't really come. We had guessed that and incorporated them in. We sent out invites for 237, and got about 20 nos early so sent out our B list already. I look at the list now and IF everyone came there would be 239, but honestly when I look at I know it will be 175. 190 tops.... Try to make an A and B if you haven't yet? So far the 20% no response is holding up for me but it really varies....

totally understand. I originally thought we'd invite about 150, then it went up to 185, then 220, and now the list is at 249 But, the 'A' list is at around 215... and I'm hoping to cut that to around 200.

I do have a B list - my hope was to mail out invites by July 10th for my 9/24 wedding. Reply date is Aug 20th, so I really have until about July 20th to mail B List. ....so my wish is that all those who are definite about saying 'no', mail the reply back early enough so I can send the B list out without them feeling like afterthoughts. I was thinking about cutting the list now, but it's hard to determine how to cut it off (if you invite so & so, then you can't not invite so & so, etc)

I think you are more than fine! More people than you think will say no, and you will be well within what you want your maximum to be!

Thanks - I hope that I can get down to 175 if possible.
I LOVE your dog!! sooooo cute. I think I told you that before. He reminds me of my dog who passed away after 17 wonderful years...

im' hoping for 'no's' too ... we decided on 120 ONLY ... but then we were at 150 ... so I'm hoping we end up w/ the 120 after all

i wouldn't freak out just yet.. we could only afford 160 people max in our budget and invited over 200.. now we're at the point where we're inviting people because we need to make our minimum of 150.

Same here- I wanted 125 but it ended up at 159. I am still hoping to be at 130 but I would even be happy with 145.
