Freaking out really early in the morining

Freaking out really early in the morining

So, two weeks ago I dropped my dress off at the seamstress for alterations. She only charged $50 for the bustle and a little taking in on the sides. I was thrilled. She said to call her this week so I can come in for my second fitting on Friday.

I call yesterday and got a message that there was a medical emergency and they weren't sure when she'd be available or returning calls

This morning I get a call from the seamstress's niece saying at this point they don't know when she'll be able to complete work so they're arranging for people who need to get their garments to pick them up on Sunday. At this point, she isn't sure if my dress was even touched.

I feel really bad that something is wrong with the seamstress as she was really nice and I heard she did really good work. but I can't help but freak that my dress is just sitting there probably un touched and there's 4 weeks til my wedding. I have to wait another 4 days just to pick it up and take it to someone else. I hope it's not an issues to get everything done in 3 weeks (I want my dress done the week before the weeding so there are no last minute issues).

How freaked should I really be???

Don't freak just yet. If the alterations are really that minor, then it shouldn't take more than a week to complete. I'd bring it to someone else and tell them a date that is TWO WEEKS before your wedding and throw some drama in there and maybe shed a tear and they'll feel bad and not charge you rush fees.

Don't freak out. Search for posts on here regarding good seamstresses and give them all a call today and tomorrow, so when you pick your dress up on Sunday, you might be able to go to one of the seamstresses you contacted so they can help you

I think you should be fine, if the alterations are minor and a bustle. Call a potential seamstress now and explain the sitaution to them, they should be able to tell you if it is doable.

Re: Freaking out really early in the morining

I called another seamstress who said I can bring it in on Monday. I'll find out how long she'll take. I purchased my dress when I had lost a whole lotta weight after being ill. I've gained a healthy amount back, but now the dress is tight. I can finally zip it to the top but it's pretty fitted. I've been working out intensely for the past 2 weeks (since dropping off the gown) to tone up some since I don't need to lose a lot for it to be comfortable (probably around 5-7 pounds)...but I was planning on asking her to take it out a bit to make it comfortable if I still feel constricted in it. This is something I do not want to deal with at all. I feel like I'm slowly losing my mind with the wedding 4 weeks away...and every little upset or snaffu takes me closer and closer to the edge

Thanks for the support ladies!
