Freaking Out! (Vent)

FH and I got engaged at the end of March and sort of looked around at a few places a month or so ago. We went back and forth for quite a while about whether we were going to have a typical wedding, whether we could afford it, whether we should try to save for a house instead, etc. Anyway, we've decided to go forward with the wedding (on an extremely limited budget), aiming for October or November of 2004. We're going away tomorrow for a week, and then we're really going to work on a place for the ceremony/reception. I am just freaking out that we've waited too long, or that there will be nothing available, etc. How far behind are we really? I've been thinking about this non-stop, yet there's not much I can do until we get back. We have a list of a few places to look at, but I'm terrified that we're going to have such a hard time and that we're going to have to take whatever is available. I seriously cannot stop thinking about this (even in my sleep) and I'm really freaking out.

I'm a mess!

jann, dont' freak out. my friend just booked something for august of next year. you have time! i would not wait too long, depending on if the location you want is extremely popular or affordable during those months, as it will tend to book sooner. it's worth it also to do it just for peace of mind!!

do not feel like you are a lost cause and there will be nothing left. there are PLENTY of locations wih PLENTY of dates available.

Thanks. I just really want to book a place already and I feel like I won't get any peace until I do. And we're going to visit FH's dad this week, and I'm sure either him or his wife (whom we don't like) will bring it up, and it's going to take all my strength to just brush it off. His dad has spent the better part of every trip down there trying to convince me that my reasons for not moving to Florida aren't good enough. Can't wait to hear his thoughts on the wedding.

it certainly will be a huge relief once you book your reception location. as for the weekend in florida, let it roll off your shoulders... hey it could be worse-- they could live HERE and be bugging you. At least they are a couple hundred miles away LOL It's easy o hang up the phone!

do you already have recep locations in mind? you could ways call ahead to check availability and make your appointments to go see them, so at least you'll get the ball rolling in the meantime!

Just keep your options open. I know someone who booked a October wedding and took Halloween night because no one wanted to book it.

I do have a few places in mind (mostly because they're the last ones left that I might be able to afford LOL), and my options are certainly open. I wouldn't even mind moving the wedding up to February or March if I thought that I could save enough money in that amount of time. The only things I don't want to do are get married in the middle of the summer (I don't do heat well and I can guarantee my makeup would slide right off my face) or push it back to 2005. Other than that...wide open.

have you ever noticed how many catring halls there are on long island? THOUSANDS it seems! don't worry - you'll find a place. and you seen pretty flexible with dates and such, so it really shoudlnt' be a problem. don't let somethign like this ruin your vacation - relax, unwind...have a few drinks...you can worry and stress when you get back!!!

Thanks! I know I'm being completely ridiculous about this, but there is just so much friggen stuff to be done and I feel like there's never enough time to do it, and by the time I get off my rump to get around to it, it'll be too late. Meanwhile, I'm going to try to go on vacation and relax and think about nothing other than the fact that I don't have to work or be responsible for anything.

I'm glad I'm not the only one in the same boat....my bf & I are not even engaged yet!!!!!!! We know we want to be married next July, but we have to deal w/ an annulment also (not sure how/if we can book church until it is over)...but I'm flipping out & he's so laid back about it all....URRRRRRRRR. We are going on a cruise in 2 weeks, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the e happens then.....
Then we have to move into high gear.

LOL Thanks! I feel like such an uninformed clod half the time. Just let me know if I get to be a pain in the tush. I can get a little obsessive when every single little detail goes through my head at once! My head is truly a scary place to be sometimes.

SweetCin, I just saw your pic on another thread, and your guy looks SO familiar to me, but I don't know from where or why. Good luck on getting the ring on the cruise! You're certainly much more ambitious than I am with July!

something should be availible.... i know when i was looking for November 04 i found a few very affordable places ($75 pp including tax)..... im sure you'll find somethng....

If it's any comfort to you, I want to get married next April or May and I don't have anything booked. We met with the priest and our hall should be decided this week. But I don't have anything else.

Please dont freak out! Thats the last thing you need to be worried about on yoru vacation!! I am getting married on a limited budget as well..and we are having a friday night wedding..and we found so mnay places that are available for friday nights!! We are getting married at teh George Washington Manor in january. so we got a GREAT deal. You will find the perfect place..please dont stress!! ENJOY YOUR VACATION!!! When you gte back then you will find everything. It will all somehow just fall into place! You'll see!!

i wouldnt be 2 upset. dont let it bother you. remember everything happens for a reason. im getting married in june and have nothing but the hall booked. october is a awesome month i love the way the leaves fall and all the colors. also November is awesome. I know someone who got married the weds. before thanksgiving. think about it everyone will be off on thursay and usually friday mid week so cheaper. and people can travel and even spend time together with the whole family on thanksgiving.
