Free Checking? What bank do you go to and why do you love it?
I need to change banks. I go to Fleet and my acct is free through my old job but FH is getting charged an arm and a leg through them by Fleet. Monthly fees plus $1.50 on top of the other banks fee if he goes to a non-Fleet ATM.

If my company did not pay for our banking I would switch to America's most convienent bank, COmmerce bank. I like their hours.
I bank with Chase...can we say YUCK!!! the right relationship they know nothing about, I better stop b/c they do employ important people in my life I do like their online banking tho' even tho' they recently changed vendors who they were using to pay your bills and my cellphone bill was late 2 mos ago I think changes such as this we should be notified about.
My mom has been banking with Citibank and loves it

We have 2 banks.. FH and I have a checking/savings/IRA/mutual bond acct. with a credit union, thank GOD for that! the best thing EVER!
and we have a savings/money market (is that the same thing?)/checking with Chase..
it's not that that bank is bad but it's only good if you have a high balance, otherwise you will have soo many fees.. it's stupid. thank god our wedding fund is in that bank =)

Shamma, is that what happened to Chase? I paid two bills online last month and they never got them!! I flipped out, b/c it is so not like me to miss a payment. I thought I was going crazy!!!!
I hate Chase!! As soon as we move and get everything straightened out w/ the mortgage I'm switching to either commerce or WaMu.

I have 3 accounts with Sh!tiBank, ehr, CitiBank and a joint account at Greenlawn. Of the 2, I'd say Greenlawn is better - my FI has been using that bank for years. I've had a problem with Sh!tiBank ever since they 'took over' EAB. (Not that that bank was much better.)

Iuse Suffolk Federal Credit Union...free checking (only have to keep $50 in savings) and I love it.

Starhead, yup, my GF called and her AT&T cellphone bill was late too and that is what they said, why change it if it its not broken. If I was not getting the banking services for free I would have moved on.

Astoria (checking) and ING (money market) for us. FH's own acct is through Apple which is the worst bank since they only have 2 locations near us and they are out of the way. Astoria & ING are very convenient.

if you can get into a credit union...do it now!!! since the depositors are the investers...you get the dividend...aka interest...they have the highest interest of any bank in the country...
I cannot believe that banks not only charge you for checking...but then don't give you interest!!! I got 1% on my CHECKING account...and 1.5% on my savings...(I know it doesn't sound like a lot...but since greenspan and the Fed Res lowered interest rates so many times...thats all you can get)
I've seen other banks give .2% for savings!! I think that is robbery!! considering all the money they are making on loaning your money out!!!
I am in both Teachers Fed Credit Union...and Nassau Educators Credit Union...but you don't have to be a teacher to join...look at their websites...or if you have a family member who is a teacher - or roommate - you may be able to join...
