Free Flag flown over the Capitol

I just read this on a website and thought I'd share. It says that it may be possible to get a free flag flown over the Capitol in honor of the wedding. Has anyone heard of this before? Flag

You can get this done for almost any occasion (B-day, anniversary, etc). I used to work for a Congressman in college and I used to process a lot of these requests.

Would you know how far in advance you have to request this? I'd love to do it but my wedding is 2 months away!

I think if you send it now they will be able to fly it on your day. I used to process the requests the day they came in.

So all you have to do is write a letter to your senator or congressman?

I think there is a charge for it now

Yes, you write a letter and I am pretty sure you can also specify what date. FH and I actually bought a flag from our senator here in VA and had it flown over the Capitol in honor of our friend who died in the WTC 9/11. The flag now flies at our house. I think it cost about $15 total.
