How about one of those hair combs w/ crystals, that you tuck along side the french twist so that all you see are the crystals?
Im sure you can find those at Tri County.

could you use a brooch sewn to a comb on the side or top?

I'm also planning to do a French twist for my wedding, and having trouble finding pictures.
I've found these so far. I've done something similar to the second one for my cousin's wedding and really liked it, but for my wedding I think it would compete too much with my tiara.
