I'm getting married the Friday of LDW, and i'm torn between 7 or 7:30 for the start of cocktail hour. FH thinks 7, but i'm thinking 7:30...to give people who are travelling and have to work enough time to get there. I don't want people missing out on the cocktail hour. He thinks most people get out of work early on the Friday of LDW anyway, or CAN get out early.
Thoughts?

Re: Friday brides- cocktail hour start
date twin. :)
we are doing our cocktail hour 6-7pm. we moved our ceremony up to 5:30pm so that we can make the most of the daylight for photos directly after.
whoever wants to be there will make it a point to be there, regardless of when the start time is. plus, i do think because it's a holiday weekend, many people are out early or off already.

Friday brides- cocktail hour start - Long Island Weddings
Mine starts at 7:00pm. I just went to a wedding at NHP Inn this past Friday the ceremony there started at like 6;30 and cocktail hour was at 7pm. By the way the the cocktail hour was amazing, so much yummy food and that area is so cute!!

I think 7 or 7:30 is fine.....and I also think its really considerate of you to consider your guests. A good friend of mine is getting married next Friday at Oheka Castle and festivities start at 6pm. Maybe lots of people can get out of work no problem.....but not those of us that work in healthcare. I'm going to get out of work early, but it definitely took some schedule shifting with my coworkers and supervisor...

woo-hoo glad u had a good experience! LOVE the cocktail hour room.
Thanks for the feedback everyone, I think I'll keep it at 7...the cocktail hour is 1 hour and 15 minutes (i didn't want the full 1.5 hours bc I want more dancing..even if it's only 15 minutes, haha). So, if people get there a little late..they'll still have time to eat.

I KNOW for a fact that people will be late so we're putting the start time a half an hour earlier than the actual time. Our ceremony starts at 5:30, but we're putting 5:00.

Or wedding is in May and on a Friday too. Our ceremony start is supposed to be 7pm but I think we're going to put 6:30 so we have everyone there and ready. Check out sunset hours and go from there. Or ask your venue what they suggest.
