Friday Evening or Sunday Afternoon Wedding?

Friday Evening or Sunday Afternoon Wedding?

I'm thinking I'm probably going with The Old Field Club. However, it's more than I'd like to spend for a saturday. Fridays and Sundays have better prices. The Old Field Club is one wedding at a time and I can choose what hours I'd like.

Just out of my own preference I'd like the ceremony to be before sunset and the party to go into the evening. Of course, convenience for guests is important to me also.

Did anyone else deal with this decision? What was your choice?

We picked Sunday afternoon. We figured it's better cause people have the entire day before to go to the hotel and then they will have plenty of time to get home on Sunday if it ends at 5:00.

I chose Friday night. Start time for the ceremony is 6:30, so hopefully everyone who's coming can make it there on time or leave work a little early. I personally am not a fan of afternoon weddings. I feel like I have to go to bed early so I can wake up early and get ready. Then the weddings over, we're drunk, all dressed up and it just makes you end the night early. They only do 1 wedding a day there - if you want a Sunday wedding, start at like 4pm, then it's over by 9:30!

Same for us. We were in the same predicament: Friday night or Sunday afternoon. We felt that more people would make it on a Sunday since most people wouldn't be rushing home from work, getting ready, and then heading to the wedding.

Although now people are b!tching about having to get up early...to which I remind them that my @ss will be dragged out of bed at about 5 a.m. for hair and make-up, so they can quit their whining.

I would say Sunday is better. I have been invited to a few Fri night weddings and was unable to attend as it is very hard for some to leave work early or take a day off to get there in time.

I had a sun afternoon wedding and im glad i picked that.... everyone was refreshed/energized from the weekend... it was over by 5... still enough time to get home and get to bed for monday work... I dunno about you but I am completely wiped out after work on fri and wouldnt be able to stay up very late through the party since ive been since the early morn

We are doing a friday night wedding..late friday night. Our ceremony starts at 8pm that way people have more than enough time to get home from work and change. We also wanted our wedding to be more like a party and Sunday just didnt do that for us and Sat was way to exspensive

I opted for a Friday night since you have all weekend to recuperate and I feel like people dance/drink/party more at a Friday night wedding than they do on a Sunday. It's like a kick off to the weekend rather than winding down the weekend!

I would pick Sunday afternoon. Friday night is just too difficult and tiring with work all week.

I wouldn't worry about any issues about an afternoon wedding not being fun. Of the three most recent weddings I went to, the two that were in the afternoon were most fun, and the evening one was kinda dull. It's the people, and not the time of day, that makes the wedding.

We had the same problem but I always dreamt of a night wedding so we went with friday night.

The bottom line is the people that matter will be there no matter what. (If they have to leave work, they'll leave work)

Friday night hands down!

people will come to your wedding no matter what day or time it is!!! I wouldn't let any of those issues get in the way of your decision

I personally always wanted a night wedding, I feel awkward partying and drinking in the middle of the day

buttt the real question is...what day do YOU want!? that's really all that matters!!!

For me Friday night would never be an option I think it would be too much to ask your guest to have to take off work . to me Sun afternoon was to early and my cocktail hour would be brunch. no way Sat was to exspensive so Sunday night was perfect because Monday is a holiday so we can party hardy and my guest have Monday to recuperate good luck:

I chose Friday. Ceremony in the afternoon and the reception starts in the evening. That way, people can continue the party late into Friday and can sleep later on Saturday...I know if it were up to me, I'd prefer to attend a Friday wedding instead of a Sunday. Sundays for me are days to relax and prep for Monday - not for partying, but that's just me.

I couldn't pick fri night bc my mom's family is Jewish. even though they're not religious, its sort of a slap in the face and they'd be offended.

We've gone to a few fri night weddings but had to go late bc of work.

I like sun better.

We had a big debate over the Sun afternoon, fri night or sat wedding. It was FH and my mother against me. I won! We went with Sun. afternoon. 1 its affordable and 2 you're done by 5 and you don't spend an entire day doing wedding stuff.

We chose Sunday afternoon. Just couldn't beat the price difference. That's really the only reason why.

thanks for the responses. I think I'd personally rather do friday evening starting with sunlight and going through sundown. But I'll talk to my FH about it

Same exact situation, diff time of yr. I always wanted a sat night wedding, but when we saw prices we immediately said 'next!' So it was either sun night or fri night. I chose fri and I am soooooo happy w my decision. I feel that ppl are more likely to let loose and enjoy themselves. No work the following day! So the only other thing is ppl having to leave work early to make my 6pm ceremony. If they love me, then they'll make it happen.

Listen, bottomg line: YOU CAN'T PLEASE EVERYBODY!! I have to keep reminding myself of this too!

Hth!

ETA fri night turned out to be cheaper for us anyway. It was a win win win situation!

we had a friday night wedding. most people had to travel anyway so ppl just took the day off work.... we were able to have a nice relaxed brunch with our guests the next morning and then everyone had all weekend to kick back :)
