I would go for the 3:30 ceremony. I think the sunset will make for GREAT pictures!
I agree!

Is a 730 CH too late for a 3 or 330 ceremony? and also does the time of the sunset mean that the sun is beginning to set at that time or its already dark? What is civil twlight??? Sorry for all the ques i am so clueless
I think sunset is when the sun is actually beginning to dip down below the horizon and civil twilight is when the sun has actually completely gone down below the horizon. So, at civil twilight, it is not completely dark, there are still some rays of light in the sky, but the sun itself is no longer visible.
If you FM an email address, I can try to email you some photos in the next few days from the time we took them at the hall if that will help you
And I don't think 7:30 is too late - people can generally amuse themselves in between. Our friend was married recently and they had cookies and coffee in one of the hotel rooms in between when there was a long gap.

Re: Friday night fall wedding...need advice
I wanted to tell you all that I just called all my vendors to change the times and my mistake was not speaking with bride # 2...aka my mother. She said that it's way too early and there is nothing for the OOT guests who are not staying over to do for that big of a gap. IS that supposed to change my whole ceremony time? I dont exactly want my mom going back home to entertain guests on my wedding day but I can't imagine not having those beautiful pics on my wedding day either for guests that I don't even really know that well. Maybe I should jsut change my CH now to 7 instead of 730. UGH This is the most frustrating part. Gown was a cinch, booked all my vendors the first time I met them. Ceremony and reception timing is the biggest pain!

Whether it is 3:30 or 4:30, the same people are going to come or not. Have you considered taking pictures before hand? I did and it was the best decision we made!

I am in the same situation also. But, I am having a candle light ceremony, so I chose 4:30 so that the light from outside doesn't make the church brighter. Doesn't the church have outside lights? It wouldn't be extremely bright, but you would still be able to take pix if they do.

Go with 3:30! It's a Friday (like my wedding was) and the ones that want to be there will be there! Don't miss the sun for guests that 'may' show.

I think no matter what, people will be there regardless of time if they want to be at the ceremony.
If you really want pics outside, do the 3:30. Don't have regrets later.

It's still up in the air but their was an article in Newsday last month that said that Congress was trying to have daylight savings time be the last weekend in November instead of Oct. B/c of the energy crisis they want more daylight hrs anyway if that gets past you might get more daylight.
I would go for the 3:30 anyway

Maybe you could change your cocktail hour to 7pm. We had our cocktail hour start at 7 and it worked out perfect. And we came from a farther distance.

I think 3:30PM is fine. And then, you might have time to go over to Maple Avenue's Village Green for a few pictures at the gazebo. Where are your OOT guests staying? With a 3:30PM mass, they should have plenty of time to change at the hotel if they want to wear something more casual to the church.

def. 3:30.. If the sun goes down around 5:30ish that time of year, by the time a 4:30 ceremony is over, there will be no time for outdoor pics.. don't worry about people showing up for the ceremony. they will be there!!

Re: Friday night fall wedding...need advice
I had my wedding ceremony at 3:30 on a Friday night. Quite honestly, our church was packed!!!! People will come to your church no matter what. We did do a receiving line, we took some pictures outside. Unfortunely, it started to rain after the church. We took picture at an indoor place. And made it to the reception hall to take pictures and to attend our cocktail hour. I was so worried about the church time and the cocktail hour time - that it didn't even matter due to the rain Also, about what the guests will do inbetween the church and the hall - they will find something. I wouldn't worry about it - you will stress yourself out over it. Some of my guests went to an inlaws house, some of my guests went to the hotel, some of my guests even went to the hall (they had a restaurant there - so they hung out at the bar).
Good Luck!
