In your opinion what do you think is better. Saturday is off the table because its too expensive, but Friday people would have to take off from work or leave early, but don't have work the next day. WIth a Sunday they can come whenever but I don't want people rushing home, or not drinking because they work the next morning.
My fiancé and I went to Russo's today with my mother and sister. I think this is the 15th place we've looked at and so far it is all of our favorite. I know a man that I work with might be able to get me a bit of a deal, but it was not as expensive as I thought it would be and they offer you soo much. At Russo's Fri and Sun are the same price and now that we are taking dates I don't know what to do now. I was sure that I wanted a Friday but I'm not sure.
If any Russo's brides mind sharing what they were quoted and if they negotiated at all with Mr. Russo I would really appreciate that too!! Thank you

In my opinion I would rather a friday night over a sunday. Only because most people wont mind leaving work a bit early, or drinking after working all day. I do know a lot of people though who wouldnt drink, or stay out late for a sunday wedding.

Personally I would pick a Friday over a Sunday. I rather go out on a Friday night and not have to worry about the next day. Then have more time but having to get up and go to work the following day.

Ok good thank you girls sooo much. That was the reassurance I needed. My mom was busy chirping in my ear trying to convince me to do Sunday, but I agree Friday is better. I know we won't get as big of a crowd at the Church, but people can make it by 7 to the reception I don't think thats so bad.

I would do a Friday over Sunday too. I'm only doing a Sunday because Memorial Day is the next day, so most people are off

I agree with Friday. When I went to a Sunday night wedding recently I did not drink and I left once they cut the cake because I had work the next day.

For work reasons, Friday is better than Sunday. But I'm doing a Sunday evening wedding (no holiday the next day). I was worried about people not coming or having to take off work. But FH and I know that the ppl that truly matter will be there no matter what. Plus, knowing our crowd and the ppl we will invite, they won't mind the Sunday at all. They will party! Plus we even spoke about it with some guests we plan to invite and they kept telling us we did the right thing saving all that $ and switching the day, and they wouldn't have a problem with taking Monday off, if they choose. So depending on your crowd, which ever day you decide, don't stress. Those that truly matter will be there no matter what day!

Exactly this. I'm in the same boat as you.. couldn't afford a Saturday wedding, so it was between Friday and Sunday. For me it was never really a decision to make, because I knew I wanted a nighttime wedding where people could relax and not have to worry about when they get home. My ceremony is actually at 3:30 at a totally different location than the reception, but w/e.. the people who want to make it will make it, and that's fine with me.
Also, as I'm sure you know, you're in great hands at Russo's. The food is amazing!!

and here is the one opposite vote! haha I'd prefer sunday--if it's a morning or twilight. My wedding is a sunday at 2. our reception will end at 8:30. i think this is a very reasonable time for people to drink and have fun without leaving early bc of work. IMO sometimes fridays can be rushed if people have trouble leaving their job early

What are the other places you have looked at? Russos has great food, but it is not cheap! Have you seen the Inn at New Hyde Park?
Would you consider a daytime wedding on a Saturday?

I did this too...can you get Sunday of a holiday where people have off on Monday? I booked 9/1/13...the Sunday before labor day so I know everyone has off on Monday!! Only one place I went to tried to charge me like a Saturday...the rest gave me Sunday pricing.

My wedding is on a Sunday which was not my first choice but I knew I wanted March or April and every Friday in March is lent in 2013 which means no meat and in April the site fee and price went up so we went with Sunday, it starts at 2pm and will be done by 8pm.

Yea I have the same concerns, but where you are having it you are the only wedding so you can start it at anytime, a lot of these other places do 2 every sunday, so its either in the morning or later in the evening. If I got to choose the time I would be more OK with a Sunday.

I chose Sunday over Friday because I know that many of my friends cannot rush out of work and get there in time. I also have family from out of state coming here so to ask them to come on Wednesday and skip work Thursday and Friday is just not fair. It works for us because they can come up on Friday and spend the weekend getting ready and preparing and be able to miss a day of work on Monday.
I think everyone knows their crowd the best and its' definitely an individualized decision.
PLUS..your never going to make everyone happy..some people are gonna wish for a friday some for a sunday some for saturday--we must do what we think is best for us and a majority of our guests.

I have to say its been really interesting watching this thread because I right now I am planning on having a Friday night wedding. Many friends and family are coming in from out of town.
However, I'm somewhat excited because I've brought up the idea of doing a few things casually with out-of-towners on Saturday.. as like an extended celebration.
My close friends and family are thrilled by that idea. They are making suggetions - so its fun to think it might give us more time with them.
