Please help! I'm getting married in Nassau (south shore) at 3 or 3:30. Then..our reception will start at Old Field Club in Suffolk (Setauket - north shore) at either 7 (if ceremony is at 3) or 7:30 (if ceremony is at 3:30). My one concern is rush hour traffic for guests going to the reception on a Friday night. Is anyone having their ceremony on a Friday and then have their reception approx 1 hour away (with no traffic)? If so....are you worried about rush hour traffic for Westchester, Queens and Nassau guests?? Even if you're not getting married on a Friday....do you think that it will be a problem with traffic on a Friday?

Thanks for your reply. Another concern of mine is I want to make sure that we have enough time for photos. I just hope we're not stuck in a ton of traffic on the way there.
Does anyone else have experience with the traffic on a Friday??

Re: Friday Wedding Question
Your definitely going to hit some traffic.....but if it is possible....try to take ocean parkway if you are going to be on the south shore...and then take a robert moses parkway north to the LIE or something that will take you out to Old Field

I agree with ocean. Stay away from the SS. It's freakin horrible lately. Traffic at all hours of the day and night.

Re: Friday Wedding Question
Traffic is so hit or miss....i mean either way there will be traffic but how bad you will never know. If your ceremony starts at 3 and at the latest you leave between 4 and 4:30....your guests would arrive between 5:30 and 6, thats estimating traffic time, and that still leaves a big gap, so I wouldn't worry.

Re: Friday Wedding Question
predicting traffic, is like predicting the weather. these are things out of our control. no matter how much we fret about them, there is really nothing we can do.
but i do think your guest should be fine.

Re: Friday Wedding Question
The bad traffic on a Friday usually starts after Memorial Day. My parents live at Exit 68 and my mom works in Garden City. That is her experience with the traffic.
