Has anyone here ever had a friend get ordained online and conduct the ceremony for you?? I have a relative who said he'd do it and he's well-spoken, etc. My mom is just afraid that this won't be 'real' or something.
We knew we weren't going to get married in a church, but we weren't sure what we'd do about an officiant. Any tips or comments? Is there anything we need to be sure of when doing this?
Thanks!

Re: Friend as Officiant??
There's a certification they can go through online.
If FH and I weren't going to get married in the church, we would have asked one of our good friends to go through the certification (and pay for the course) but we went the church route.
HTH!

Re: Friend as Officiant??
My husband's best friend married us - we got him ordained online @ openordination.org - it was super easy! Definitely one of the best decisions we made, it was so personal and our guests loved it too!!

Re: Friend as Officiant??
my future BIL is getting ordained to marry us. NY only acknowledges one online site, I cant think of it off the top of my head... call the town clerk and they will tell you , thats what I did.It costs $30
