OHH i had a very similiar situation and it was for an out of state shower!

I was so annoyed that 2 weeks before the shower she said we need to give her $300 to pay for the shower and the bachelorette stuff that was that same weekend - on top of the gift that we were each responsible for. UMM why are you telling me this 2 weeks before my trip there??

Unfortunately there wasnt much i could do - I was a BM so I ****** it up and dished out the cash and after it was all said and done (including the wedding) i told my friend (the bride) that her sister was a real P O S and made the whole planning process miserable for us. Did it do any good?? probably not but i said my peace!

Maybe push back and ask why this is the first time you are hearing about it and if you can give her some of the cash post the shower since it such short notice.

I'm sorry - i feel your pain!

Re: friends bridal shower

that stinks. and three weddings in three months is insane lol.

what is proper etiquette with bridal showers? i know the BMs and MOH are supposed to fund it, but does everyone get together to plan it and discuss pricing then? or does the MOH plan and then let the girls know how much they owe? i'm a BM for my friend's wedding in december, so her shower will be this fall- I want to know going in what the proper way to handle it is

yikes!

why is their a dj at a bridal shower??

seems like an unnecessary cost to me!

since the convo was via email, that makes it a little easier to approach..

I would def let her know that with such short notice you are not sure if you can come up with it

and as for the group gift, i'd say something like, 'oh, no one mentioned this to me, I already purchased a really nice gift' and at least this way all you'd have to pay for is the shower

i never had to pay for showers in the past, the brides mother always paid
